((He never met them so it makes sense for him not to be one. After all, if that wasn't the case, then what stops the shadows from taking whoever died at whatever reason?))
((You do remember that Toady said that the longer you take down here, the farther it spreads on the surface? Let that sink in for a moment...))

((Given what a continent-wide disaster this could turn into, I'm wondering if the named players in the Forgotten Realms will start getting involved? Of course, I'm not up to date on who that still is... I understand Elminster retired to be a bitter hermit, but if Silverymoon is still intact for example, they'd probably get involved on principal.))

((I don't think undead can breed. And who said she was dead?))

((Feat choice and statups are sent to highmax. I'm wondering how the new initative system will play out...

I'm also wondering at the moment how we're to step out of AD&D mechanics to win this one. Let's see how this goes.))

Karl scrambles to his feet, drawing his sword and shield. He ignores Alexander's order however. "Stay close, Siga, and guard me."

He starts walking towards the forgotten beast, heart pounding in denied fear. As he brings up his sword, he roars out his challenge.

"Creature of shadow and death! Face me, for I am the Raven Queen's champion in this place! I oppose and deny all that you are! For the Goddess, I will bring you to true death!"

((Goes to find some boss battle music to play. And I seriously hope Aurel and shadow-Symon don't show up for this.))
Karl's speech is echoed through the caverns, his voice piercing the air and bolstering his allies! Everyone but Karl gains a +1 to AC from Karl's newfound power! ((New feat power)). His willpower seems to heighten his reaction timing, moving faster despite not being as agile as Alexander.

The beast roars in response to your speech! The battle has begun!

The Great Burrower begins its turn by opening its maw and swinging its whole body towards the party! He hits everyone but Siga (lucky little thing) and Nadarrs spider ((because Nadarr protected the spider with his face)) and deals (18) damage! Weston, Cromwell and Nadarr are bloodied! ((ok, switching that to a recharge... No at will party attack for you)). He increases his height out of the ground, giving him more maneuverability and range!

Karl begins his turn!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

((Remember: there is a way to do this battle and succeed, but you'll have to think outside of hacking away at it, like the shadow creatures in the first battle. Here's a hint: think of games where you fight big monsters. What do you do?))

Karl gasps for breath as the feathers coating the undead thing slice across his body and looks around the cavern for a better idea of what they can use against the Burrower.

((Normally speaking, games with big enemies, if it charges you get it to stun itself against a wall, or you drop heavy things on it from above. If it attacks from above, are we allowed to ready a move action to shift and dodge it?))

Minor Action: Divine Challenge on the Great Burrower
Move: Move 2 squares N to stand next to the Burrower and direct Siga to stand next to me
Standard: Enfeebling Strke on the Great Burrower

((I would allow a bonus to defense if you did that, but it would be a standard action. I also forgot that Itsbat has an initiative power, so I'll let him do that quickly after Karl))

You challenge Cotl and move up! You swing your blade and attack! (17+11) Your blade cuts into its undead hide, dealing (4+5) damage! Siga takes its turn and runs up and tries to bite the beast! He hits, dealing (7) damage!

Alexander begins his turn!

Your weapon is already drawn! You shift up quickly using your samurai powers!

Move Action: To its back!
Minor: Hunter's Quarry on the beast
Standard: Twin Strike on the bits where the flesh and bone form gapes

((I think we've forgotten we have action points, boys.))
You move as close to its back as you can! You designate him as your quarry and swing! (10+10) You just manage to hit with the first attack! You deal (1+6+1) damage! You swing again! (16+10) You hit again, dealing (7+0) damage!

The cave croc begins its turn! It moves up and attempts to clamp onto the burrower! He hits, dealing (6) damage and holding down the wurm!

Thoradin begins his turn! He moves up and swings his axe! He hits, dealing (19) damage! He then activates guardian's aura and ends his turn!

Nadarr begins his turn!

Nadarr throws his spider at the beast.
He looks at the beast and tries to see if he can identify a good place to strike, one that looks weaker that the rest of the beast.
If he finds a weak point, he uses Burning Hands through the Orb of Insurmountable Force on it.
If he doesn't see such a point, he uses the attack on its head.

((Hey, how high is the ceiling?))
((High enough that you cannot see it))

Nadarr throws his spider at the beast.
He looks at the beast and tries to see if he can identify a good place to strike, one that looks weaker that the rest of the beast.
If he finds a weak point, he uses Burning Hands through the Orb of Insurmountable Force on it.
If he doesn't see such a point, he uses the attack on its head.

You throw your spider and search for a weak point. (12+7) You only notice the inside of his mouth seems softer then the rest of its hide. The rest seems to be very thick hide or thick shadow magic. You try and blast a spell into his mouth! (59%) (13+7) Your strike hits, burning the inside of its mouth and engulfing most of his head in flame! You deal (5+2+7) fire damage! It roars in fury!

Itsbat begins his turn!
