Erils had found his prey. It was a boar, similar to the first one he killed. He had been following it for a few minutes now, waiting for it to isolate itself. Erils already had his bow ready and an arrow notched. He raised his bow slowly and drew back an arrow. This time, there was no hesitation. The arrow flew from his bow and embedded itself in the boar's neck. The boar collapsed, made some gurgling noises, and then lay still. Erils slowly approached the corpse and examined it. It was a sizable boar, enough to feed the group for at least a few days. Erils took the arrow out of the boar's neck and wiped the blood off on the grass. He then picked up the corpse and started heading back. While picking it up, Erils noticed the boars over-sized tusks.

That's a bit of a big tusk for a boar, maybe I should keep it. I could start a collection, like hunters do when they...no. I'm not a hunter. I just do this because we need food.

Erils shook his head at the thought and then continued on back to the camp, carrying the boar's corpse on his back.

((I will be away until Sunday so if I get back to the camp before then, I will just bring the boar back and help butcher it or help with any big project.))

"Have it put with the construction outside unless the stockpile has less than 10 'units' inside it."

"OK, will do. They are huge tree trucks, so keeping them outside would be a better bet."

"Hey, could you get me some mechanisms from the mechanic's?  I'm thinking about trying to make a bow triggered by a pressure plate."
"Worrying about the tunnel?"

Zan catches another mug that went flying for him.
"Maybe."
"Why does this happen everytime any form of alcohol is gotten a hold of by the fort?"

"I havent got a clue. I'm an elf, and after trying to drink some of the alcohol, i found that this body has a rather...negative reaction to it. At least, I do for the human and dwarf drinks we have. So i dont really know what is going on in their heads.....

As for he mechanisms, I'll go get some. How many?"

After being told how many, Kari walks off back to where the party is and finds Cish enjoying a nice mug of mead. "Hey Cish. That lumber? just leave it in the construction stockpile outside. You know where that is right?" He nods. "As for the party, stay as long as you want once you've stored the wood." Kari smiles.

Letting Cish get back to his drinking and/or lumber storing tasks, She walks off to find the mechanism store. On her way, she thinks she hears a voice from the back of the cave. Thinking Zan can wait a bit for his handful of mechanisms, Kari goes and investigates......

(Hugo wasn't too specific on where it was.  You know that cave behind my room, that is only accessible through my room?  That's where he told me it is.)

Doubt it, considering the parties.

"over here..."

Kari kept following the voice. It seemed to be coming from Zanzetkuken's room, but she couldn't see anyone.

"back here..."

Was someone trapped in the tunnel? She went further back. How could they get in there, wasn't it sealed? Or did they come from below somehow? Or maybe... She looked closer at the plug. It was loose! No wonder Zanzetkuken seemed worried.

"behind here..."

Well, that pretty much confirmed it. She took the lantern off the wall and squeezed through the gap.

"almost there..."

Zanzetkuken said the tunnel wasn't too deep, but it didn't seem like a good idea to go much further. She took a few steps forward.

"Down here"

The voice came from right at her feet. Not seeing where, she set the lantern on the ground and crouched. Then she saw it. Or at least, something. It looked like... a tin soldier? Somehow, she had never expected to see such a thing in DF. They were old-fashioned, but "medieval" did not spring to mind. Yet, here this one was. Painted smoothly with some kind of red uniform, a tall hat, and a saber at its side. It didn't seem to have a gun, so that was something.

"Good, you've found me. Congratulations!" The face was clearly painted on, yet the mouth just clearly moved. "Now, only you can hear me, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell your friends. They might not think well of you."

"Well, think of me as an artifact. You wouldn't believe what wonderful things people make in these newfangled worlds. Say, would you mind removing me from this hole here? It's rather boring sitting here, you know."

"Ok...so long as you dont try to kill me or possess me.....I'm rather attached to life, and freedom...."

Kari reaches down and picks up the small soldier, holding him in her hand gently.

A voice begins speaking from behind Kari.  "Did you really expect to go straight through my room, inspect a wall I had made, and go down a tunnel while I was still in my room, without me noticing?"

Kari jolted at the unexpected voice, and saw Zanzetkuken leaning on the wall on the exit of the tunnel.  "I mean, seriously."

"Why, thank you! So nice. And don't worry, you're far more valuable to me whole, not that I could hurt you, even if I wanted to."

The painted eyes moved around the smooth face, seeming to examine Kari. "Hmm, an elf eh? Well, it could have been worse. You could have ended up in the body of a kobold. I've seen it happen before. Hilariously tragic, you know. Oh yes, I know what's going on here. It's happened before. And I'd be happy to tell you, but I'd like you to do me a favor first."

(NINJEDIT:)

Kari whirled around, hiding the toy soldier behind her back. Zanzetkuken didn't seem to notice.

Kari jolts at Zans voice.

"Erm...I...ah....Sorry, Zan, i just thought i heard a voice......Must have been nothing." Kari says, clearly shocked at the sudden voice. "I'll just be going. Enjoy your mechanisms!" She says, attempting to run out the room.

Once outside, she starts her conversation with the toy soldier again.

"So this has happened before?"  Kari falls silent, thinking. Does she trust the toy? She decides to take a chance. "Whats the favour?"

"Well, look on my back." Kari finds the tin backpack is loose, and twists aside easily. Underneath is a keyhole. "I'm missing my wind-up key. Without it, I am sadly without purpose. I'll warn you, it's harder than it sounds. It's not just lying around this cave somewhere. In fact, it could be anywhere in the world. But I'm also certain that you, and you specifically, will run into it someday. And you'll know it when you see it. So, what do you say? Will you keep an eye out for it?"

"A kobold stole it. It was quite shiny, you know. It stole me too, but it didn't like the way I spoke to it. I suppose most people aren't used to being berated from their pockets, eh?"
