"We're in Dwarf Fortress with our Forum! And I agree, that would be ridiculous." I look around for a large branch and cover it in dry grass, tying it when possible, before trying to figure out how to light the thing and go in.

((Weren't we supposed the be giving ourselves skills like what we had IRL? Did I misunderstand?))
(Real-life skills transferred to DF skills.  There's a link to a list in the OP.)
((Alright. I think I did alright.))

"RangerCado... call me Cado. Why is it always me?"
"Hey, Cado. Nice to meet in person."

Zanzetkuken laughed for a second, before he was interrupted by the sound of something large coming towards them.  More along the lines of 3 large somethings.  Followed by the roar of a bear.   "Shit."  He dodged out of the way of the cave entrance quickly.
"Scare the monsters out of the cave, he said. Won't hurt a bit, he said."

GWG looks through the wagon, and finds a pickaxe.
"Can anyone here mine, by any chance, or should I start learning?"

After Lord_lemonpie strolled around for a bit, he finally saw some other humans standing next to a wagon.
"How are you?" He said.

"Alright, I guess...sad that we don't have any shields or armor."

He enters the cave, pick at the ready.

"I suppose. First we'd need a butcher's shop and stuff. And someone with some idea of how to be a butcher."

"Can anyone here mine, by any chance, or should I start learning?"

"I know a fair amount.  Only surface stuff though, never had to deal with rock."  Zanzetkuken said as he returns from the wagon with some flint.  He reached into one of the pockets in his military surplus denims, and pulled out a pocket knife.  "I am so freaking glad that listened to Nick's advice of carrying all you would ever need with you."

After a short time of finding kindling and some larger branches, and a few minutes had passed for the larger stuff to catch, he had created a decent fire.  "Looks like living in the country is beginning to pay off majorly," He said as he picked up a recently caught meter long branch.  "Whoever's going in, grab or light a branch.  Those who need two hands to use their weapon drop your torches in whatever can serve as a wall socket first.  At least one person stay out here to keep an eye on the unconscious.  Maybe try dragging a couple over."  With that, Zanzetkuken started his trek into the cave.

Cado goes in with his bow slung over his shoulder, torch in his left hand, arrow with the head behind him in the other. Best to have some kind of weapon as he entered, just in case fire wasn't enough.

Exploration of the cave by those that went inside yielded this as a result.  Hashtags equal walls.

Cado sticks his torch into a small opening in a pillar (Red) to give a general light of the area. Nothing else seemed to be around, and if they could get some bedding and storage set up in the 'downstairs' area, this would make a pretty decent home for the start of this adventure.

"Seems a pretty good place, we got lucky. If we can set up some beds in the 'downstairs', we could be quite comfortable."
