That's probably a consequence of changing tilesets between saves. I'm pretty sure you can make everything change back to whatever tileset you're useing with a save updater. That or reloading should take care of the graphics issues.

That might be the designation to show/hide engravings at work... Try and see if Toggle Engravings (v) on the designation menu will work.

hey guys did i say i would give a full report this Saturday, i obviously meant next Saturday heh heh heh heh heh

no but serious i had to plan a lot more things then i though i needed, you will understand if your read below, i had to keep a lot in mind, the buffalo corpse really stuck a wrench in my plans.

27th moonstone
Well it seems everybody hates this fort, because nobody wants to be responsible for the horror that will be.
Ooh no I am being serious, shit is going to go down here just look at it. We have massive farm plots that would feed thousands of dwarfs while we only have less than a hundred.
Further we are in a environment that breeds and nourishes the undead. No I am serious corpses just stand up and walk away its disturbing.
And we don’t have form of militia!! and no maskwolf being the captain of the guard doesn’t count.
Yes he can chop wood really fast I give him that, but I don’t think that will do us any good against moving corpses.
And then we have the stock piles, ooh dear amok they are everywhere.
Stuff is just scattered everywhere. Well at least we have a well designed pit for the corpses.
And the trade depot is pretty genius.
The food supply is good we have enough to last for a couple of years, too bad that we have so many plump helmets, ooh well time to cook those up.
And then our housing, it not good, not at all.
We have to few bedrooms so those need to be made and lots of beds and doors.
And while we are on that topic why does our mayor has a personal castle?
I mean really come on there are dwarfs that sleep on the floor and this  fucker has a grand bedroom of his own. I would dived up his room but you know how nobles are. Weird door placement though.
Ooh and he banned the export of helms, not that bad of an idea we really need the armor.
And that brings me on the weapons and armor bit. It will be short because we have none.
No really (I say that a lot) we don’t have anything. don’t give me that bullshit about those copper battle axe and bismuth bronze crossbows that isn’t weapon material.
Our only bet is getting a caravan here that has iron or better steel.
Armor is even worse, with weapons we at least had metal. Armor? Nope.
Nothing I sure hope those spider silk dresses can withstand a undead punch in the face, spoiler no it doesn’t.
And what better way to end this summary by saying that we don’t have a hospital, so I need to work on that as well.
So y remember what I said at the start.

Shit will happen.


So I think the first order of business would be to get a militia.
Let me just look up who does what h…. this is going to take a while.
Okay after sorting everybody up and giving them the jobs they should have because… you know they’re good at those.
I can finally make a militia. The only competent melee dwarfs are celt and jamandu.
Il make jamandu the head of a mace/other melee squad and I need to remember giving celt his own sword dwarf squad when we have more dwarfs.
Ill Also make a crossbow squad of 7 strong.

I keep on checking the dwarf list but there is something wrong.
Feb and urvad are on my list but nobody can find them, I guess we will have to do with 5 crossbow dwarf.
Lets now get on the nobles, I think we should have 1 person managing, bookkeeping and trading. So have fun rhyme you will be busy this year.
And since I don’t want our dwarfs getting killed for petty crimes I believe that rhyme puny fist will do just as well, so it will be: captain-bookkeeper-manager-broker of the guard, rhyme.

Next up will be storage.

Now I think this would have been a tree farm, but we need a proper storage room and this is a big room so I just said fuck it.
I am also planning on expanding it, and I am thinking about placing the workshops here as well.
Y I think I will.
At the moment we have plenty of wood but to be sure i will order maskwolf to cut some trees outside.

So this I how it will look like when it’s done.
Every stock pile you can think of and every sensible workshop near its stockpile.
Also I have noticed that I build over a pasture so I made a new one in the lower corner.
I did not know that animals could eat moss, the more you know.
With this done I have removed all the other stockpiles so now we have 1 place to look at when we need to find something.
I have also made a new stairway and knocked some walls down so this area is better connected to the rest of the fort.

What that said lets design some more living rooms.

Yea I know this design has been done everywhere, but It works so I am sticking to it.
I have to nock some walls down to make a wider hallway into this bedroom I do apology for destroying your art Sumyunguy.
Also I find that our current dining room is to small I am making a new one, with a stockpile with prepared food in it next to it.

And now the hospital. What better way than to make one of our former stockpiles a hospital. It first needs to be cleared out though.

With that all done we can finally begin.
Oooor not, I have just noticed that we have a corpse inside a cage.
I better escort it to ‘the pit’.

2nd opal
Ooh kay we had a close call there. I opened both doors to ‘the pit’ and the dwarf though it would be a good idea to take that path to the storage.
Lucky I closed one of so now they don’t go through the undead route.
The undead didn’t noticed it seemed but none the less I need to be more careful.
The buffalo corpse hasn’t moved yet which is good.
It goes slow because its a metal cage.

5th Opal
We can kiss our hands the zinc cage with the buffalo corpse has been successfully dumped in ‘the pit’.
Time to close of those doors and

19th opal
So far nothing has happened, we have been successful at gathering wood from the outside and the storage is getting full, I’ll say a few month and then we will have everything I there.
On the bad news a water buffalo has starved to dead so we need to dump his corpse in ‘the pit’ fast.

22nd opal
Good news again n the corpse has been dumped we are safe ones again.

2nd obsidian
I decided  to get some memorials up when I noticed that this apparently has put a ghost to rest.
I did not know we had ghost but sure… rest in peace feb.

23th obsidian
After a explosion of dwarven baby’s. I can proudly say that we have hauled everything to the storage room and we got a militia training set up and we got the basics of a hospital and our new dining hall is almost done aaaand our bedrooms are being dung out.
So let’s just say thing are going great. I take back what I said, shit won’t go down cause we are to awesome.
It seems though one of our engravers is getting a fey mood we shall see what it brings.

24th obsidian
I forgot that keeping the fort open will give us undesirable folks like this little kobold.
Time to see what the militia can do.
But on good news the fey mood dwarf claimed the metal smith.
I am begging for a cool sword then we got something to give celt.

You know most people are happy when a new year begins.
A fresh start, a new beginning, but to me its just a way where I can be disappointed.

4th slate
Thimgs are going smooth, the workshops are running we almost filled the old bedrooms, we are starting to get silver maces, live is good.
Until of course migrants come and ruin it.
45 more dwarfs really! Well I guess we got a fresh supply of recruits and peasants.
 Wait a idea just struck me, what all these dwarfs we could start claiming the caverns.
Or at least get busy with a wall around us.
I have decided that we should have some more variety in here.
So I am stepping up the food production, I am making querns and some screw presses, this will get us some needed oil for soap.
Which we all could use I add.

15th felsite
It has become late spring and for some reason we haven’t gotten any elven caravens yet, they usually show up around this time.
We who are on time are some thiefs that would like to steal some children, sadly for them they first found some of our soldiers who took good care of them.
And by that they killed him, you know in case that wasn’t clear.
Of with his corpse to ‘the pit’.


18th felsite
Aah here they are, the elf’s…. Why did I want them here again?

23th felsite
Ooh y we wanted to trade that’s right, well we will as soon as Rhyme get of his lazy ass and talks to them. Also somebody has been possessed,
Don’t ask how I know these things.
Aaand we run out of logs. It’s time to get another woodcutter.
 
28th of felsite
Yes Rhyme I know that updating the stocks is important , buuuut trading is better so just get over there an… why are you going to sleep.

Our little possesd problem isn’t over yet because he wants leather which we would have if somebody!!! Would talk to the elf’s.
You know what? Screw it! Slaughter one of the animals.

Okay Rhyme your awake now just g… AMOK DAMMIT RHYME THOSE WORK ORDERS CAN WAIT!!!!
Also the buffalo didn’t have any skin ill try slaughtering a horse next.

See that wasn’t so bad now show me what you goHOLY PILES OF WOOD.
You know I realize we don’t have a lot of wood, but to instantly fill our wood pile is a bit much isn’t it.
They didn’t have any metal or leather, no… well that’s elf’s for ya.

With the fortifications carved our archers can shoot at the undead this will surely improve they accuracy in real combat.

16th malachite
I have noticed that my little plan involving ‘the pit’ has a few downsize.
For example some hair was shot out of ‘the pit’ through the fortifications and is now walking around scaring the shit out of people.
Il send some men to deal with it.
Ooh and we got some migrants, woepy do.

12th galena
We got 3 fully manned squads
The first one is ‘the safety of banners’. All dwarf in this squad are called: banners they are mace dwarfs led by jamandu
The second one is called, ‘the amazing helms’, all the dwarfs in this squad are called helms. They are crossbow dwarfs.
The last one is ‘the floors of memory’ they are called floors and they are… axe-sword-spear-hammer dwarfs led by celt.
While we almost have enough weapons we don’t have any form of armor.
So I am gathering all the metal we can muster to make 6 bronze breastplates…
For 30 dwarfs, please let the humans have some metal.

14th galena
The humans have arrived, time to throw crafts at them and see what they have.
Now Rhyme they are not elf’s so get up and trade with them.

16th galena
Well our mister noble can’t go to the traders because he’s sleepy.
But he can shout a new mandate.
In his wisdom Rhyme has degreed we must built 2 giant axe blades.
Sure why not I gave you that cabinet I am sure I can put 2 giant axe blades inside your room as well.

17th of galena
A ambush was spotted by the humans, let’s get everybody inside and close the doors.
I am sure the humys can handle it and if not, well we will put good use to your goods.

19th galena
I just thought of something…. Things come back to life right?
So those 2 human guard they just killed are going to come back and kill the goblins, who in turn will kill us…
I maybe haven’t thought this through.

Oooh great we were so busy with the corpses and Rhyme was to busy being a lazy ass that the humans have left. Guess now we should wait for our own kind and hope they get us some metal.

16th limestone
Okay we tossed all the bodys in ‘the pit’
This ordeal cost us 5 dwarfs, several from the militia and some children.
A lot of people are miserable and I don’t blame them.
At least our hospital is working.

26th limestone
We have somebody who got possessed, great cause we really need more insane people

1st sandstone
Okay apparently our cook was murdered on the 4th of limestone
Why hasn’t anybody told me this. Time for justice.

9th sandstone
I have decided that we should get some of the surface back so I am building a wall.

22nd sandstone
our wall is nearly done, I am butchering some animals for leather and we have some fresh recruits, I mean migrants.
On a other note we don’t have any non economical stone anymore, guess its time to expand the bedrooms.

26th sandstone
Our possed is building something in the leather workshop, he has.
Leather, some stone blocks, some gems and a gold bar.
Please be some armor.

Finally our fellow dwarfs have come to trade.

While we where busy getting ready for trade, dolmus decided to go mad and attacking everybody.
Send in the militia!
While the battle was short he did manage to kill one other dwarf, my they both rest in peace.
I also just noticed that somewhere on the line Rhyme wife dead.

I have locked the fort down and I have trade some nice metal bars.
Not at much as I would like but good enough.
Also Rhyme is conducting a trade agreement with the liaison.

17th opal
The trades have left, we agreed that we will trade them prepared food and in return they will bring leather, cloth and metal bars, lots of it.
Also the goblins are kinda just staring at a undead sparrow who is holding one of their own in the air.

Rhyme wife decided to come back from the dead as a ghost, I should have placed those memorial slabs a bit sooner.

1st granite
Well my turn is over and it is time to give a little tour of the fort for the next overseer.

On the ground floor you can see that I made a small wall so we can get our militia some sun light and it gives us a bit more of a defensive position.
At the moment the fort is in lockdown, the goblins are gone but there are some undead walking around.
I would love to see you kill them because then we would be able to get the stuff they have laying around.

The storage room looks like this.
At the top right is the training room for the melee and range militia.
I would highly recommend to keep a look at their happiness when they train cause they keep getting unhappy.
Keep our dwarfs milling all our plants or else we will drown in it.
 Same thing goes for the farmer workshop with process our plants.
Also milk and make some cheese sometimes.
You could shear our animals but you must be quick with spinning the wool because they keep walking around if you don’t.
But just smack them a few times and you can retry spinning the wool.
At the top left there is a gem workshop with the only uses of encrusting
Finished goods.
The hospital is up and running so no worry’s.
At the bottom there is a chicken for or birds… I don’t know but we are getting lots of it.
You see we are very low on leather so I though lets breed our leather.
Just make sure that you are quick in tanning the raw skin because they also like to walk around. But again just smack them a bit and retry tanning it.

There are lots of empty rooms and lots of space to expand so that’s good… y that’s about it.

We only have 1 noble, Rhyme. But we do have massive rooms for the mayor… which is also Rhyme so I am not sure what we should do with it.

Here is the status of the fort.
One last thing, the equipment of the militia is a mess, and there are a lot of weapons that could be melted to get some more bars but that is micro management.
Also we have a lot of blocks. No really A LOT OF BLOCKS.
We could make a shale fortress.
So make something nice will ya.

Well I could do that but:
a) my ENGLISH commentary will be... poor becouse I'm still learning english but I will do my best.
b) it would take more time but this is really not a big thing.
