What are you thankful for?
« on: November 26, 2013, 06:30:47 pm »

The temporal relevance of this topic might only apply in the US, as Thanksgiving is a traditional American holiday...

What are you thankful for?

For the Comcast/Xfinity DVR I have you have to enter a secret code into the remote to enable it.

Was a standard feature on the old ReplayTV DVR, and an option for Windows Media Center for XP

thankful for LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE

And also my wonderful friends. I couldn't possibly dream of better friends to have right now, such wonderfully nice, inviting and understanding people. It frequently brings a smile to my visage, just the thought of it. C:

On an even more personal basis, i'm also thankful for the vivid and insane imagination i've been gifted with. Comes with its occasional downsides, but it helps to make long walks more interesting. :U

Well, I wouldn't really say I'm thankful for being alive. Being alive is rather a neutral issue to me. After almost getting run over by a bus twice in one day, it came to my attention that honestly the prospect of dying doesn't bother me too much.

Now, I am thankful for simple hedonistic pleasures, like sleeping for 18 hours and then eating a load of fatty food.

I'm thankful that i get 20$ a month. It ain't much but considering I'm a lazy-ass teenager with no responsibilities at the moment and i get the money for something i would have to do anyway I'm happy with it.

Also even though i don't have everything i want, i have enough to keep my happy.

Being employed. Saving money instead of hemorrhaging it.

Also my family and my friends, particularly my mom.

That no matter how much we kill each other or burn books or shout dogma or 'get stupider' or any such number of things... we have come a long way since ancient times and even through all the pain and problems of today, we will still have more knowledge tomorrow.

[Yossarian:] "I'll bet I can name two things to be miserable about for every one you can name to be thankful for…"
[Mrs. Scheisskopf:] "Be thankful you're healthy."
"Be bitter you're not going to stay that way."
"Be glad you're even alive."
"Be furious you're going to die."
"Things could be much worse," she cried.
"They could be one hell of a lot better," he answered heatedly.
Yossarian is the Patron Saint of anti-Thanksgiving.

I'm extremely thankful that I'm alive, but that is more my concern then others. I am always thankful for my intelligence, without which I would be up shit creek without a paddle. And as ever, I thank life for not screwing me over outright, and instead choosing more subtle, manageable ways of screwing me.
Well, I wouldn't really say I'm thankful for being alive. Being alive is rather a neutral issue to me. After almost getting run over by a bus twice in one day, it came to my attention that honestly the prospect of dying doesn't bother me too much.

Dead people aren't usually concerned with the fact of them being dead. I personally plan to put it off at any and all costs, and will fight tooth and nail to preserve it. But be dead if you so please.
