Walls are symbols
« on: November 26, 2013, 05:57:39 pm »

If anyone could help, that would be great.
My walls are showing up as symbols and it's fugly imo, i want them to appear solid. I use a custom made ASCII png. I searched through the init, can't seem to find the solution.

Are they engraved?

Not sure if you can change that.

Screenshots help...  Preferably, of the DF screen, and your custom ASCII.

You tried out a graphical tileset before, right? These change rocks, plants etc. to different symbols.
Here's how you fix it (please note: if you installed any mods, you'll have to reinstall them afterwards):
  • Download a vanilla version of DF and unpack it in a new folder (let's call it DF_new).
  • In your old DF folder (i.e. DF_old), there's a directory called raw. Delete it.
  • Copy the raw folder from DF_new and paste it to your old DF install.
  • Each new game you start from now on will have the graphics fixed. But we want to fix your current game too, so go to your save file (it's a folder in DF_old/data/save called region1 (or a different number if you created more worlds)).
  • Inside region1 is another folder called raw. Delete it.
  • And you guessed it: copy the raw folder from DF_new to DF_old/data/save/region1 .
And that should do it! You can delete DF_new now if you want to.

I wonder if the game has become odd.
