Which hammer would you pick?
« on: November 25, 2013, 07:50:38 am »

If you were give to choose between two warhammers, one made of uranium, and one made of thorium, which one would you take? (you have to take one)

Some data: the density of uranium is around 19, and the density of thorium is around 11, however thorium is named after the Thundergod, which must be important for a warhammer.

Anyway, both will give cancer.

Just coat the hammer head in lead and they shouldn't be too harmful. Both metals are still inconveniently soft and very high density/weight could make them uselessly slow to swing. So i choose...

The thorium one , for the the thunder god.
thorium is so slightly radioactive that you will die of old age before it can give you cancer, 14 billion years is long long time it is Alpha any way.

If you ever meet some one TIG welding tell them that the electrode is radioactive and watch them jump, it is good fun.

Thor sounds like an elven Force. Godless heathens. Why can't you recognize proper Gods?

Why you say Thor is elven? if you said Freyr, ok, that one was a bit elvish, but Thor? when was the last time you saw an elf with a hammer?

Anyways, both elves and dwarves came originally from Norse mythology afaik.

Thor is not a dwarf word, it is not a human word. It therefore sounds elven (or goblin-y or kobold-y, but i am not sure they have religion).

How do you know its not dwarf? Maybe the dwarves have another name for him.

Well, i just looked at the historic persons in one of my worlds, and the humans there have:
a deity of thunder
a deity of lies, treachery and trickery
a deity of youth, life, fertility (can't remember the exact domains, but something like that)
So we have Thor, Loki and Freyr, just under different names.

Unless you can show an elf named Thor or a hammer-wielding elven force of thunder, i think that's settled. And no, Cacame doesn't count, he converted to dwarfdom to get hold of a hammer (hammers can't be made from wood, not even by elves).

People in RL can know and understand that. The people I actually care about (i.e. not my potash maker) can't. Therefore it isn't knowledge.
