Won't we need aliens to study Xenobiology? And dead soldiers really don't help killing X-Rays. If we have medikits then we won't need to worry about dead soldiers will we?
Yes but we will have to deal with mutilated solders for our experiments.
FTFY.
We could rebuild them, if we researched the technology.

So in...

Prof. Jones signing in, looking to take charge of a lab team working on unusual and novel ideas.

First research submission: Improved Ballistic Weapons, preferably a line of weapons based on magnetism - i.e. railguns, or coilguns.

Oh hey, couldn't find a main thread for this.  Now it makes a lot more sense.  I'll be staying here in Science and Industry.

Lasers, if we have lasers less soldiers will die and we'll have lasers 8).

Yes, but let's figure out how the aliens tick first.  We might find the best way to kill them is less pew pew and more dakka.

Personally, I vote for Alien Biochemistry. Because the sooner we figure how they tech on the cell-equivalent level, the sooner we cane poison 'em.

We should research Alien Biochemistry.

And then, we should research laser weapons.

Gaseous grenades, highly pressurised, that would help.
Edit: oh wait, yhea that wouldn't work, silly me, however, we could use them with electromagnetic weapons once it comes up.

Voting for Improved Ballistics Weapons. Because ya know its gonna be a hell of a lot cheaper to make them, we don't need laser weaponry right away, and we'll benefit more from our agents using ballistics weapons in the field at the moment.

Also produce a single bow and twenty envenomed arrows.
