Honestly, my opinion is that we should just work on getting man-portable railguns. >_>
This is the best opinion, this obtains a dwarf seal of approval.

I have been suggesting this for a while, so it gets my seal of approval.

Prof Jones votes for further improving a rifle in terms of one hit kill accuracy over range, sacrificing any other attributes if needs be, hoping for some kind of enhanced sniper rifle. If approved, name the pattern the "Scalpel".

What sort of rifle? THe Marksman's rifle is already a variant designed to do that- would you like to have another version of that, or the basic autogun constructed?

Take the marksman rifle... change from a clip of 10 to a single round, but a MASSIVE round, as large a calibre as possible, mabye an APFSDS round. I envisage it as a higly accurate one hit kill weapon with limited ammo, say like an anti tank rifle.

The Prof looked over the technical precs of the new heavy rifle, and was pleased - if any Xeno could stand up to accurate fire from this mighty weapon, then humanity wuold be in real trouble. Speaking of trouble, this weapon appeared to be about as far as conventional firearms could go in terms of long range lethality. Prof Jones would have to try and get permission to look at alternatives - lasers, gyrojets, or potentially a rail or coil gun.

Request permission for prototype small pistol variants for comparative testing purposes - one laser pistol, one gyrojet pistol, one coil/rail pistol

Support Medikit research.

Volunteer to test new firearms, either in the lab or in the field as required.

Alex receives the notice of new weapons and does not waste any time in putting forth a requisition for equipment, hopefully acquiring what he wants before he's sent into the fray for the first time.

The Operator requisitions one Common-Craftsmanship Autocannon.

what about a portable gun turret, being basically a large machine gun with basic programming and a large battery to keep it firing at anything not human shaped.
There's actually a gun turret that exists that's like my basic idea, can't remember its name but I'll see if I can find it.
Edit: here we go, found it, it's called the super ageis 2, acronyms included of course:

That certainly would be a problem, of course, the turret I linked to acted on heat signatures, so it would fire at anything that gives of heat, back to the drawing board.
