Well played RNG.... well played.  Oft times, you are one step ahead of me.

EDIT: I go to grab fuel capsule at Alpha Bay 2... cause both fuel tanks are broken(again).  There was a fire there just this cycle.  It was destroyed.

Well, got murked on my last ship, which should have its hull caved in any cycle now.  Pretty fun, enjoying the fact that because the gameplay is so spread out that once you're down to the actives you start only trusting the people you see every day.  I was a Hua and just PM'd Terrence immediately every time my mush sense was tingling, even though I was wrong every time.  Though my mush hunt efforts did eventually lead to the outing of the final mush, I ended up getting 5 of our 8 living crew members killed.  Probably should have guessed it when Eleesha was so passive about any kind of mush hunting.  The bummer is had I not been at work, the food test actually did prove 3 of the 4 Alpha mush suspects were human and I possibly could have toasted the mush.  Though I think the problem was the three that proved themselves human didn't realize they should have just killed the 4th one without getting all paranoid on each other.

On the bright side, for my new ship I got lucky and no one had made the research, food or dirty threads.  I'm so very happy with "Dirty Thread You smell bad and you should feel bad."

Do I simply get marked as idle if my AP are full or may I also not log in at all? How exactly does the idle status work? I need to lay low but still want to watch what's happening. :P

Just pop in every 3 days, eat under a camera somewhere.  You can read stuff as you pop in.  Though... I personally disapprove of this 'playstyle'.

Ah don't worry, I just need to wait a bit until the time is right to strike and I don't want to waste AP on helping the crew until then.

I get where you are coming from.  But, simply not playing the game to avoid detection, until you find the opportunity to 'wake up' is well... yea.

Sorry but that's just bullshit in my opinion. Playing passively and waiting for opportunities is a legitimate mush tactic. It's not like I'm going to waste a massive amount of AP like this, just laying low for a few cycles. If you have better ideas for how to keep unsuspicious I'm all ears.

If you are just laying low for 'a few cycles', yea, that is fine.  But, playing the inactive card with the zzz?  It does not take any knowledge or effort on a mush's part to completely stop playing in order to hide.

The best time to hit would be around day 4 or 5, that is usually about when an average crew(from my experience) gets their shit together and go on an expedition.  It is also when oxygen gets on the really low end.

Actually I wanted to prevent being listed as idle because with the idle tag you can't log into the game anymore (to watch the chat and map) without a message in the log (rudely awakened).

Wasting AP covertly, without getting dirty/showering?  Searching if you are not Eleesha w/ the search skill, but you will have to get out of bed for that.

I don't believe there are any AP spending action you can do without getting out of bed.  Sure you don't want to be productive at all, but you want to prevent the zzz?  Someone observant will have questions on why you are still active and doing jack-all... especially if you are one of the more important characters.
Though, Eleesha does kinda have a free pass to wander around the ship and not being productive at all during the mush phase.

Then you'll have to somehow use your AP.  If you connect to the game with while inactive, you rudely awaken, only to fall back 'asleep' each cycle, until you next connect.

People who count AP will know that you are faking it and doing 'something', but one thing any character can do to 'bleed off' excess AP no matter where they are (except maybe while out in a patrol ship) is search.  Unless there's something hidden in that room, your search is invisible and costs you an AP (unless you're a level 3+ Eleesha).

Know that if I suspected a player of doing this, I am killing them, and if they are human or prove hard to kill, I'm reporting them.  Someone who does nothing I can tell and never goes inactive?  They probably are searching the room over and over. It's not a reasonable newbie behavior, it's absolutely not beneficial to the human team, and it's not a reasonable mistake.  I'd kill you with extreme prejudice if I suspected it, and I'd report you with holy wrath adding impetus to my fingerstrikes as I typed the words.

It should be pretty clear that I am not human. I don't get why everyone here seems to think it's wrong for a mush to do his best not to use his AP for helping the crew.   ???

The entire thing is moot now anyways btw.

When I get to play I just run into too many rule breakers, and I'm hypersensitive to them now.  I swear, I run into 1-3 humans playing against the human team, not through ignorance but very much on purpose, in like 9 out of 10 games I play.  Note I didn't say I would report a mush for it - and if someone did this and was hard to kill (Ian mid to late game, I don't have the AP for that kill, or hiding by an inactive Ian) I'd report them because I'd be mad - but if the player was mush, there's not going to be any punishment.

Hah, I've run into so many griefers and they've done so much harm to the ships, I'm not even mush hunting anymore.  When I get on the ship I start griefer hunting, and if I found proof of a mush and proof of a different player being a griefer at the same time, I'm killing the griefer first, and the more sure I am that the griefer is human, not mush the more intent I am that the griefer must die immediately.

I'm against mush playing the "I'm inactive" card.  Not against a mush wasting their AP uselessly, waiting to get shot in the face by observant humans...

Imp is against human players who grief/play like they are mush.  Yea, they should be strung up first.

EDIT: Though, we are both advising you that it is really easy to tell what you are trying to do....
