Okay, so - I think the frickin' grease monkey script "let me handle managing the ship for you" programs that hook directly into the game and make lying impossible are WAY, WAY worse for the game than the sporesucker or the shower test. This is outright cheating - it's a communication game, and you're using a program to play for you. It's bullshit that it is allowed.

Yeah, we refused to use those on my ship. We just used the script to copy things for our personal notetaking, but not for communication. People justify it saying that it's used on Die2Nite, but Die2Nite isn't competitive.

Got a question regarding gameplay rules. Particularly this one: "Playing against your team could be sanctioned", wich can be interpreted rather loosely.

Say you're mush and also a character expected to actively hunt and kill mush. Also your fellow mush has been inactive since day 1. Would it be against the rules to, after having found substantial proof, rat out and kill your fellow mush to maintain credibility? Technically you're doing it to further the cause, but I suppose it can be argued. Also would it be allowed if the other player was actually active but compromised?

Throw them under the bus to further your infiltration into the core group, ensuring that you can further your cause in a more efficient matter.  Your compromised teammate is a walking corpse anyways.
EDIT: Just try not to be the one to spend the AP killing him... you have better uses for that if possible.  (Say you have no AP left or actually go to the room and throw a punch or 2 and say you are out of AP.)
Mainly, you can help orchestrate your teammate's final moments.  Telling people where he is... where the knife/blaster is to get at him.  (Have teammate turn into full mush 'in a full panic' if teammate is cooperating.)

The only one I know about is the Astropad one.  Not everyone on my ship bothers to use it(just 3 people right now).  Plus I ain't installing it on my work computer.  So... I'm better off using the normal method.  Plus, I forget to update things all the time anyways.

Generally throwing other mush under the bus is not appreciated, and if they report you, you can get sanctioned. I just asked about it to the mods a few hours ago.

It usually just boils down to whether they report you or not. If they don't make reports than most of the judges can't even see the ship. If they consent to what you're doing, then it should be perfectly fine. You're usually not allowed to backstab partners, though.

If they're inactive, it's actually more suspicious that you found the mush when they haven't done anything at all. Unless it's something stupid like Raluca idling in the dorms for days, or people standing in the lab, inactive from day 1 and still haven't died yet.

It involved Raluca yes. I notified the crew she should be dead. I don't think they would have figured it out actually, I just pointed it out to stay legit. Didn't actually kill her though, convinced the rest of the crew it's not worth the bother, being inactive and all.

Well, my crew managed to go and complete an expedition at the last minute, right at 1 oxygen.  Desperately working on the PILGRID, 85%.  Worse part is our Raluca may have gone inactive...

I decided to check this out (after playing Teacher Story).
I didn't check it out before because I'm not a great RPer, since english is not my mother language I get a bit shy or "frozen" when someone talk to me in RP situations (got stunned once on SS13 because of that).

Anyways, I have no idea about 90% of the game, but I'm Jin Su.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

I posted this in the last thread:

When I'm Jin Su I immediately take possession of the anti-grav scooter and patrol the ship. Make sure every things ok. Help fix things here and there. Track suspicious Mush movements. Help research in the Nexus. Take a patrol ship and shoot down hunters (I take Pilot over Speeches). Make lots of long speeches that could definitely be shorter. Send out orders to people. You get the idea.  Your main goal is to organize the ship and make sure you help with major problems as they crop up. I generally set objectives for the crew, put people in charge of projects, and etc. It helps if you have background experience as the other characters to know how the ship works, but my first Jin Su I learned most of it on the fly.

Just make sure to be careful with ship movements, and log on frequently to make them if need be. Otherwise you may have a mutiny on board.

Man Chao mush kind of sucks, there's just no way to get any ap at all. Normally when you really need to get cracking you can grab a ration for a quick boost, not so much when you don't eat.
Ended up making spores right after killing someone, excuse to be dirty and have low ap in one. Got bored of watching the ship slowly die while I couldn't really do much, in between having to command the ship and not seem suspicious, so I just went berserk out of boredom.  :)

Chao Mush is great at the "merry chase" though. You'll usually only have one or two pursuers at a time, so... run away from them! Hahahah! Get phagocyte to top yourself off and the scooter (which you have a claim to!), and choose a crucial moment to act, getting everyone to keep going back and forth, back and forth, trying desperately to kill you, wasing AP at a crucial point. You also get free blaster shots which take no AP at all, quite useful!

Before that, you are one of the few with permissions to go anywhere, making spiking easy, and you can very lead witchhunts to kill active players and then be considered to be "doing your job". Is it the best Mush character? Not really. But it's certainly a GOOD one.

Chao makes a great mush. He's basically the bad cop on the ship. He is the head of security after all. Almost all his skills are PVP. Despite this, he's supposed to more of a political character. He goes around the ship easily. People are scared of him because of his skillset and reputation as a psychopath on most ships.

I got Jin Su on my first ship. It's not so bad. But you have to be on almost every cycle or an active ship will mutiny on you. Ironically, you took one of the top roles which needs the most socializing (others are maybe Eleesha, Chun, and Chao). Good luck ;)

Tutorial:
http://mush.twinoid.com/tid/forum#!view/112222|thread/32270135/0

First thing to know is that you're the big boss. You have missions. You spend one AP to give someone 3 APs. In the first few days, this is usually best used on Paola to get her to do communications. Second best is Frieda to make sure she scans for planets. And then you'll know what to do by Day 3. If the ship has problems with Hunters, give the pilot a mission. If the ship has broken things, give the ship technician a mission. Try not to waste missions on inactives; you don't get the AP back.

You're the only one who can drive the ship too. This makes Jin Su very very very important and powerful. Sometimes you'll have to jump the ship. If you want to move the ship say 4 steps east, you are the one who sets the ship heading to east. Tell someone to put 4 fuel in the tank. You'll have to get the ship (usually just Frieda) to scan for planets first before knowing where to go.

Your second role is to boost morale. You and Janice are the only ones who can directly improve everyone's morale. Give speeches early, usually Day 1 when everyone settles in the dorms or some other crowded area. Later on, you'll be too busy with expeditions and ship guiding to be giving speeches.

Oh and be careful to sleep in rooms with cameras. Jin Su is a favorite target for mush because of his status and ability to control the ship.

Actually I strongly disagree with you here. Eleesha and Chao are supposed to patrol the ship on antigrav scooter and make sure things are ok. Chao's second in command for that reason. Eleesha has the Tracker skill.

Jin Su often needs as much AP as he can get early on. If Janice is inactive, he's responsible for keeping morale up and this requires 2 AP per try. Giving out missions costs a little morale. I'm reluctant to get Pilot for Jin Su because of this... the first skill is the most suitable for him. Pilot is just there because Jin Su is expected to lead expeditions... everyone is usually afraid that a mush Jin Su will steal the ship while everyone is in Icarus.

He is the guy who has to boss around the rest of the ship and know what everyone's up to though. He's like a CEO. He does little of the low level work and more bossing around people.

Approaching Day 9 on my ship. I'd say this is one of the best ships so far.

Sounds awesome. If you're mush-free and looking good later on, but still short of map pieces, you might considering visiting Mantarok planets - there's a risk of losing someone, yeah, but a fairly high chance of finding artifacts as well.
