This could have been such an awesome game had Motion Twin not decided to fuck it up by simultaneously making it impossible to gain more skill slots for free, using the whole AP system and not allowing to play two games at once. Oh, so you decided to move to another room? Sorry, you'll have to come back tomorrow to do anything more. And at the same time people who can log in twice or more often during the day after gaining some APs can perform more efficiently than the others. Bleh.

I thought that same way at first.

It's not really a D2N in space. It's a chat game. The limits force you to chat and coordinate. There's plenty of awesome roleplaying to be had if you play it with the right people.

Well, I'm dead. The Hunters blew up the Daedalus and the remaining crew to kingdom come. Oh well, I learned a fair bit at least. Hopefully the second voyage will go better than the first.

So can you only have one skill active per game if you don't buy their gold thing?

Say if I were to use lv 2 Eleesha, and I want to use the "Determined" skill, do I not get to use Tracker at the same time?

Oh, just noticed this. Yeah, you only get one. Determined is kind of a sucky skill though, unless you don't want to hunt mush. But if you're not mush hunting why are you even taking Eleesha?

Might want to take a look at this to find which skills are most important:

Remember, when you die sign up for the big team push! Get some fellow b12 members playing with you!
When?

Added to the OP. We're planning on launching this Sunday!

In other news, I had what may well be the best RP experience of my life running a game of this as a Pen & Paper last night, one marathon 6 hour session with so much paranoia, drama, turns, twists, secrets, big damn hero moments, wow it was fucking amazing.

This translates REALLY well to the Pen&Paper experience with some fairly minor tweaks. (Mostly trimming down on size of crew and number of responsibilities)

well, our commander was mush. we are now running out of oxygen. we killed him, but nobody else got the commander title, so to move the ship I had to hack the console... I am low on AP now, and can't do much... if somebody becomes commander next cycle, we still have a chance of finding an oxygen planet in time. otherwise, we are extremely screwed.

Ack. I missed the B12 launch thing. I might end a game soon though.

But why launch on Sunday? It's also the same as 'Mushday', when other players often launch. Not that it's a bad thing.

Because then, even if we don't get to play with each other, we're still likely to get on a good ship with active people.

We'll probably have at least a few groups of active Bay12ers on various ships, and managing to get another group of people working together is a benefit.

Game Over

My first game has ended.. in horrible, flaming defeat.

We were doing so well. All the Mush were dead. Discovered, cornered, shot and killed. We were organized. A few hunters were attacking the ship, sure, but we had that under control. Everything was progressing at a steady rate... until it happened.

An electrical spike suddenly struck the engine room. Everything burst into flames. Extinguishers were no where to be found. The flames quickly spread, leaving us locked out. Isolated by walls of fire, scattered across the ship..

The fire raged for days. Most of the crew died as the fire reached their rooms. Some committed suicide. Nobody blamed them. All hope was lost. Below is a transcript of our final words, before our oxygen was depleted, and the Daedalus burnt to a crisp:

NERON : Alert, signs detected of a fire aboard the Daedalus! Information bulletin: « fire burns. It burns ME, to be more exact. Could you put it out?! »

Chun : Friends, I'm afraid this is the end of us...

NERON : Pfffft. There's no oxygen left. Hahaha !! … Ah yes, there's still some oxygen. … However, the reservoir is broke. Critical pressure reached. ME jettison all the oxygen into space, yes? [Kzz] No ? OK, just a little bit then. … But repair it quick dammit!

Raluca : We.. we're doomed.

NERON : Death registered : Eleesha, cause : « Fatal Depression ».

Raluca : Eleesha..

Jin Su : Your captain speaking: It's been good knowing you people, now that our voyage is almost over. Godspeed everyone!

NERON : [Hax?!] Raluca ? … Raluca !! … Filthy undeserving little thing!! [Hax!] Raluca !! [Hax!] WAKE UP don't abandon me without saying anything! You!! [Kzz] Mother... [Hax!] … *Death registered : Raluca, cause « Daedalus destroyed ».

Do we have an IRC room or something to coordinate the B12 jump?

Oh dear there appears to be some paranoia aboard the ship I'm on. I found out about a hidden object while keeping track of a suspicious member, and let everyone know about it unbeknowst to me that's sensitive information. Woops. Now a couple of crewmates are demanding everyone get a mycoscan done. I wonder if the guy I was tracking is the culprit.

Added to the OP. We're planning on launching this Sunday!
I hope I can join. And that I won't be a complete burden if I do. :P

From what I've seen, you can be awful as long as you're not griefing, being an idiot, and wililng to learn. In fact, I think griefers are even preferred to inactives... (at least you have an excuse to kill a griefer).

Log of Imp-Eleesha, Day 4, Cycle 7

Quote
Our remaining infected crewmate had been silent since Jin Su had been caught sporing and spiking a ration on camera.  Suspicions ran high for several days, with one suspected Mush privately discussing Mush-hunting methods with me until I was convinced she could not be one and debated the rest of the crew to allow her access to the Mush-hunting discussion, our Frieda, first awake, full of good advice and suspicion of others, was exactly the sort of player not to shut out of such discussions.  The others (apparently selected more or less at random, a Mush could have been among us, there was no 'good reason' why Frieda had not been included) wavered on that idea a good deal.

No matter, we've ended our hunt, but not before a crewmate became infected.  Did Raluca infect Stephen?  Was it the other way around?  Maybe it doesn't matter.  We had suspected Raluca from very early, the confused fool wandered in silence, not doing much of anything except walk around and around, lingering, filthy, in camera-less corridors.  I found myself trying to sprint past Raluca on more than one occasion.  Stephen, though he started to talk a little near the end, he too was an odd one, he too did little that was practical and useful.

Those three are dead, and whichever was not always infected died the very cycle he turned Mush.  13 crew are alive, 13 crew are not, for the moment at least, Mush.

But the problems mount.  We've had one failed expedition, from an error in fuel loading and piloting.  We've had a successful mission, one that found us 9 servings of alien steaks and a great quantity of oxygen.  But our fuel is threateningly low now.  13 hunters have appeared around Daedalus and those that know debate the value of moving the ship versus fighting off those 13 and collecting the resulting space scrap.  It appears we shall stay and fight...

I have helped complete the project of blaster guns, improving the cannons of the fighter ships.  Hopefully that will be enough.  13 to face...

Our greatest problem might be a very personal one.  Some of our people have simply given up, 3 of us are not actively talking and interacting, and the group expects that all three might have made a suicide pact and intend on killing themselves soon.  For some of us, morale is a desperate problem.  We have beds, but they are mostly before cameras, or in popular, thus crowded rooms.

I have suggested to the crew that we prepare 'comfort stations', conveniently chosen rooms where only one loneliest person should wait for visits from the opposite gender, and that it is a duty, irrespective of any pleasure, to visit these rooms and do what must be done.  I do not know yet if my suggestion will be well received, but I think that better than the needy begging for relief, but then bunking down for long sleeps in the crowded dormitories, still under watchful camera eyes.
