This is wierd. One of the crew on the expedition just got lost, but we took the compass along. Does the compass not prevent people from getting lost?

It does, sorry. But maybe he will be more active now?
Maybe but unlikely.  The worst captains are those who log in once a day.  It means that Arack/blocker hunters have a strong chance of showing up inbetween killing them/previous group and the captain logging back in.

Basically, that is what happened to my last ship.
On my last ship: I had the hacking kit and was able to move the ship... but our only living pilot was stuck out in a patrol ship...(Also waiting and hoping for the captain to give him a mission) so I said screw it, may as well save myself some time.

I had my first human victory yesterday.  We finished repairing Pilgred with 8 armor left and around 15 hunters on us. Not bad considering we only had about 8 people of which only 5-6 were actually communicating. Mind you we were lucky that the Jin Su and Raluca were amongst the active ones. We'd never have made it through the 20+ hunter ambushes on day 8 without being able to move the ship regularly, and its nearly impossible to repair the pilgred without Raluca.

If anyone wants to get on a ship that got plasma shields by end of day 2, jump on now!  We got one slot as Giole remaining.

So - spore suck does NOT seem likely to make you dirty. But it definitely hurts you if you use it, so still worthwhile as a test.

Only 3 damage, which isn't terrible.

Of course, until we kill our Mush, it's hard to say if it actually doesn't work with Mush guaranteed - that's still just hearsay.

I like Chao's "shoot them with the natamy rifle and see if they survive" test.  It has the advantage of not needing the suspect to co-operate in any way with the test.

Just started this game as Finola. Quite good going so far. Research is going swiftly, and the seas are calm so far.
But only time can tell how this ship will end up.

Any tips for a newb?

Always use the apron, then return it.
Make sure to relay with others - never work on a project twice in a row. Chun is the safest person to relay with.
Communicate with the other players!
Never, ever go inactive in areas outside cameras if you can help it.

Those are the most important bits.

Caught the mush using spore sucker. I petitioned to have the spore sucker mechanics changed to work the exact same way with mush. Would be lame if this becomes the common tactic on ships.

We didn't verify that it doesn't work with mush, but on hearing about the tactic, the mush panicked and rampaged.

Would say that you could sometimes work on a project twice in a row, especially if you have no active lab partner. Kuan Ti's skill is literally just to relay research.

Hmm, I'm giving this game a try. As Terrence. My wheeled form is current out of both kinds of points and stuck in a laucnh bay because I didnt quite realize how few actions I had. and its only the second cycle.

You're a very special case.  If you can find the scooter, it will let you move like anyone else (one AP becomes 3 movement points, instead of the one point you have).  It can be hard to get that scooter, other players may want it because it give them the same bonus it gives you (they go from 1 AP=3 MP to =5 MP)

But you have a bonus ability no other person has - you can and will be pushed by anyone in the room with you when you leave it, at a 0 MP cost for everyone involved.  That means that players can literally line up in your path, and you can run everything around back and forth until any carrying job is done.  You can also be 'escorted' anywhere, by a player following after you, which will consume their MP but not yours.

Ack, Terrence is quite literally the worst person to pick as your very first character. His main skill is Technician (not the drone thing) because he's expected to dismantle things. And he doesn't get to move a lot.

Honestly, I really don't think it's that powerful. There is so. much. drama. involved in using it. You need to synchronize activity, be online at the same time, force the mush to actively incriminate themselves. It's man advantage is DEFINITELY as a scare tactic more than anything else. It's also risky - clear someone with the spore sucker, and then everyone trusts them. That means they are prime targets for being turned or transferred.

The "best case scenario" really is the Mush panicking and rampaging. Because them not being where they need to be, or leaving the room after using it (to secretly take a shower) claming they thought it was done... all the normal Mush strategies of covering up aggressive activity with incompetence, inactivity, or an off cycle time online still works just as well.

Personally, I see it as a last line of defense sort of thing. Think about it for a minute. Say you have a Mush Paola. She knows the only thing she needs to do to insure a Mush victory is be a contributing member of the team. That's seriously it! She never gets dirty, and thus has no excuse to shower. Things like the forced dirty test, the spore sucker, the spoiled food test - against certain types of Mush, these things are neccesary. They are also incredibly unwieldy and quite risky as well.

I don't think it's as much of a golden bullet as it seems - the real benefit comes from making your Mush think it is.
