Or, simply giving, say, a piece of clothing resistance to a type of magic, or making a cloth shirt as tough as chain-mail. The more powerful/permanent it is, the higher the difficulty it would be. Examples for easy enchanting would be to cause a small orb to float or glow, or turn a thrown rock into a whizzing projectile.
