 Monsters crowd the streets, from hippo-women to some weird mix of a toxic sludge thing and a mongoose? Some dragonfly people too.
You look to the mall, and see some slime girls socialize. You move your sight over to the police station, as you see some female grizzly bear thing women. You are just a simple human in this society of monsters.

You turn back to your hover-skis, which don't appear to be there. Wait, they aren't there? Uh oh.
You look around, and see some weird guy with a long trunk and short legs, with green scaled skin sneaking off with your skis. You can faintly hear him hum the theme of Metal Gear Solid.

    First, let's add some lore.

   The earth isn't what is used to be, as stated in the OP. Every species on earth was mutated, and now monster people roam the planet. Humans are now a rarity, making up a minuscule amount of the population. Male humans are even rarer, being one of the rarest things next to Bizarre slime.

   Bizarre slime is a magical substance that's fabled to grant it's users a wish. The slime synthesizes itself into matter, of what the user desires. So that obviously means you can't get something like say, good luck, but it CAN make a living creature! There are two ways to use the slime. You can use it with the magic ritual, or the scientific lab way. It's better to use it in a set-up chemistry lab, as you get "more" out of the slime, however it's hard to get the materials to set it up with. The magical way is the traditional way, as they all say. You get a bit less, but it's easier. And more dramatic.

  There are some more unique characteristics about the earth now, such as the fact that floating islands exist now. There are huge landmasses, with ice in the bottom of them, arranged in a structure like the veins you see in your hand. That was a bad analogy, but shit, I'm not a poet.

  There are many other, yet fewer-than-there-used-to-be cities on the planet. Major cities include, (Ordered by population)

   You are in Deathville, a town near what used to be Stockholme, Sweden. Long story short, it got destroyed by a gang of giant dragonoid zebra people. This is a decent sized place, and could almost be a city. You were raised by your adoptive mother, Saria Rondo, who took you in after finding you on her welcome mat. 12 years later, you're now... 12. You're still a noob at Rune magic, because you haven't really been taught much. You mostly educated yourself with books, but it's been getting harder as you try to delve into the more advanced stuff.

How big are the big cities, and how many people are there overall? 

The city of Madness is the largest, with a population of around 400,000. Deathville is around 300,000, spooky town 240,000, and it goes down and down the list.

Rune magic, what is it and what can it do?

How do people reproduce? Cloning? If so, then couldn't they clone men?

I'd imagine that they could have more traditional reproduction continue to be the norm. The real question is what stop males from being born.

The total population of Earth is approximately 3 billion. Most of the population died out due to disease or war.

Rune magic is one of the main magics, with the other being siphon magic. Rune magic allows users to inscribe magical runes on objects, living tissue, liquids, and even your bloodstream.
Rune magic drains little of the user's energy, unlike Siphon magic, however it takes time to set up the runes. There are three basics of a rune. What triggers it, what it does, and how long it does it.

Triggers are simple, they can be triggered via proximity, timers, and much more.
What they do, there's a wide range. They could shoot fire, make something harder, make something explode, and more.
How long it does it is pretty much the name. How long would the rune be active? If the rune is permanent, then it must be recharged by the user's magic energy. Runes can also rearrange the composition of a substance.


The human race is dying. Humans can only reproduce with humans and other human-like monsters. However, it is very difficult due to the rarity of males on Earth. Male monsters are rare as well, making it difficult for them as well. However, some monsters reproduce asexually.
