Anyone up for Crusader Kings 2 Multiplayer? Also how do?
« on: November 20, 2013, 07:59:13 pm »

So yeah, I would like to set up a game of this...well, great game but I am lacking both people to play it with and the knowledge of how the crap to play with other people.

So anyone up to show me the multiplayer ropes and then maybe we can get a nice screwed up history going?

Note: I heard about CKs "everyone uses the hosts DLCs" policy and that sounds awesome, I personally have The Old Gods and Ruler Designer, so just figured I would throw that out there as possible incentive.

Depending on the time I might be interested. IMO, CKII games need some kind of shtick so they aren't just map painting simulator with occasional assassination. Like, everyone plays a duke in the HRE (or some other elective monarchy) , or we're all in the same dynasty, or something else like that.

Well if Ruler Designer is usable in multiplayer I was thinking of playing the most gimped man alive with 30-some daughters :P
Oh god and if I was king of France or some other huge kingdom.
And you all try and get married to my various daughters to inherit my L33T SWAG.
Would that count as "shtick"?

Same dynasty, all HRE, no changing from Gavelkind, final destination. :P

Some ideas:

Irish Royale: Everybody starts as an Irish count. One man walks away as the King of Ireland.

An idea on the Paradox forum I love: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?730352-MP-campaign-idea-The-Multiconfessional-Republic

Sons of Lodbrock: We each play as one of the sons of Lodbrock, scrambling to conquer and religisize in our own ways.

Succession War: Stamford Bridge start. One plays as the king of England, one plays as Duke William the Bastard, one plays as the king of Norway, one plays as king of Denmark (a somewhat less known English claimant), and one plays as the king of Scotland (Yew lads 'ave fun down thar', I'll be politikin' by myself up 'ere.).

I would love to play some time.

I have to admit the Multiconfessional Republic idea sounds hilarious. We'd be everyone's target with every change in ruler, but pffft. Bonus points for going Hellenic or something.

Hamachi can be used for hosting, so that should be easy enough.

So we seem to...not have anything resembling a consensus on what to do.
I personally woulda settled for just playing the game and trying to screw history as thoroughly as possible, but apparently YOU ARE NOT ENTERTAINED by that so we really need a vote on this I suppose.

I say figure out when we're playing first. Though Multiconfessional Republic does sound pretty amusing.

Monday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings or any afternoon would be best for me (CST).

I'm definitely interested in some Crusader Kings multiplayer. :)

Does anyone know if 2.0.1 fixed the multiplayer crash bugs though? I know a lot of people (myself included) were having issues with 2.0. Everyone who wasn't the host crashed if the host had ToG and SoA and the players joining didn't. I didn't see a fix in the patch notes but I'm hoping it snuck in under the radar.

Well, I did see this:
Quote
We are aiming for a larger update in mid December, which will fix many old bugs (including MP OOS), plug some exploits and revise certain aspects of antipopes and theocracies inside feudal realms.

It might actually be best to wait a few weeks for the added stability that patch will bring.

Well I'm available quite a lot, so I'm guessing its mostly gonna be dependent on when everyone else can play.
Also the page detailing Multiconfessional Republic wouldn't load for me, so I have no idea what it is.

Hmm....well I AM planning to get the Europa Universalis converter next month :P
So you might be right.

Multiconfessional Republic sounds awesome, wish I had time to play.

BFEL: The premise is that five players each take a patrician in the Republic.  Using the Ruler Designer, they are respectively Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Pagan and Zoroastrian.  Frankly, this sounds chaotic and awesome.

You could substitute any religion, mind you. Hellenic Patrician? Heretic anything?
