Best game to get with $5
« on: November 20, 2013, 03:21:36 am »

Hey all. Been looking over what I might spend a spare 5 I got on, and can't decide really. So, was thinking ask the knowledge base here, as I bet you guys know of lots more sales, bundles, and other things I might have missed.
Basically, open to any suggestions, indie bundles, steam games, whathave you 5-7 dollars will get you, as I can fudge one or two easy enough.

I'd recommend playing Alien Swarm on Steam, but unfortunately, it's free, so you'd still have your 5 dollars.

Oh look, I have a steam account.
Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Heh, the downsides of free games :P Already have it loaded, best when I rarely talk friends/siblings into it

Look out on the Humble Bundle or Steam sales. Too many good games are free or near free. Jagged Alliance games are up on Humble Bundle for literally any price. You get a bit more if you're willing to top that up to $6.

The Binding of Isaac is very cheap and will get you plenty of hours of fun! The same goes with Terraria. I don't know if they cost 5 Bucks at the moment, but just keep an eye out, they often go on sale and are defenitely worth both your time and money! :)

TBoI is indeed $5. I've gotten more than an hour of gameplay for every penny I paid for it.

Dungeons of Dredmor is pretty great if you like roguelikes. It is my second most played game on Steam. There's a free expansion for it as well.

I believe Steam has Knights&Merchants for 4,99. Great game if you like the Settlers.

And the old Ufo Enemy Unknown (the "old" XCOM) is also a great choice. Be sure to get OpenXcom as well, it allows the game to be played far easier on modern systems.

Knights & Merchants available as part of a bundle right now

It also comes with some pretty decent game such as Mount&Blade, Majesty 2 and Shelter.

Have to go with Binding of Isaac as well. Insanely cheap, insanely fun, insanely replayable.

That or Terraria if you don't already own it. (Might be $10 at full price though, cannae remember.)

Get Awesomenauts from Humble Store.
Best MOBA out there by a long shot (3v3, 2D, 80s-90s cartoon-styled) with a good (relative to, say, Dota or LoL) community.

Got 260 hours out of it, which is my second most-played game on Steam.
So do yourself a favor and get it now!

I will say that awesomenauts isn't for everyone. I'd try it first.

It's far more accessible than any other MOBA out there, seeing as it's more of a platformer with MOBA elements than anything else.
