Strife, an old FPS game and the last commercial game made with the Doom engine AKA idtech 1. It's very good and also really difficult. It's similar to Deus Ex in some ways, like how you can upgrade your skills to slowly develop a better aim instead of instantly being 100% accurate with every weapon. It doesn't look as good as Doom and it isn't as easy to pick up and play, but I like it a tiny bit more than Doom just because of the creativity and innovation. Strife had objective-based gameplay in an FPS when Goldeneye and Halo hadn't even been conceived of yet.

I also got Ocarina of Time recently, but Strife and schoolwork have forced me to put that down for now. I'm at the Fire Temple, which I'm not a big fan of, so it'll be tough to pick back up when I finally get around to it.

The Close Combat series. Oh how i love to force my poor soldiers to crawl through the mud under heavy fire until they eventually get cut down by the MG-42s or panic and run win against the Germans.

Do visual novels count? I've been rereading Saya no Uta/Song of Saya which came out just under 10 years ago.

I still play Age of Mythology: the Titans.

And Kohan 2, it's awesome. Along with Warlords: Battlecry 3.

kohan! I loved the first one, never got a chance to play the second.  But I guess this answers which old game I'm going to be playing.

I've played a bit of Spore recently, does that count as old yet?

What was the first one like? I never played the original.

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Strange, I was just about to post how I had been getting back into Spore. It has been five years since its release, so it probably counts.
It's been nice to make a few creations again, even if the community is pretty much dead.

I also recently got the urge to go through Warcraft III's campaign which I never properly completed, but It's hard to find the time with exams approaching.

Oh crap, how could I forget that I've been playing through Warcraft III's campaign again? I tend to play through it at least twice a year. It's my favourite game of all time, after all.

Jagged Alliance 2, Silent Storm and Necromunda. I do love me some smaller scale turn based games.

I have been going back at Colonization on my dosbox, it's still very fun and playable
I never played the relatively recent remake based on the civ4 engine or the open source one and no idea if they're as good or not

I've recently played through the first episode of Bio Menace. It's not great. Though the music's good.

I've also been playing FEAR 1, possibly the last non-indie FPS with a decent singleplayer.

Do you want a free copy of Civ IV: Colonization? I have an extra copy on steam for some reason that nobody wants.

I play it every year or so too. Or more usually I play Reign of Chaos and then I fizzle out at some point during The Frozen Throne. I don't think it's the best thing ever, but I really like the story and the way you have rpg-lite stats and side quests and everything.

Let's see. In the last few weeks I've been playing a lot of Majesty. Early October I finished first Metal Gear (PS2 version). In between those was a ton of DCSS (Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup) but it's not an old game so it doesn't count. There'd be a lot more oldies here if I didn't have DCSS hogging all the gametime recently. I'd like to try and start some progress on Metal Gear 2 while it's still 2013, it seemed like a pretty good sequel, ie. it improved everything.

Very kind of you, but i wouldn't have the time to really play, so maybe you could make a giveaway thread like some people regularly do so someone very interested into it but without the budget could recieve your gift ?

Sid Meier's Covert Action (I recently discovered that Combat on higher difficulties is fucking bullshit, though) via Dosbox. It's a really unique combination of action and puzzle and, since it has procedurally generated missions, quite replayable.

From more recent, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Very very good game, especially if you were into Deus Ex or Alpha Protocol.
