Older games that you've been playing recently
« on: November 20, 2013, 01:35:21 am »

A few weeks ago I spent $35 buying some old Playstation 2 games, controllers and a memory card off a good friend of mine. This week I visited another friend to get my old PS2 back off him. Last week I bought a Multitap off ebay so I can have 4-player games with my friends.

Since then I've been playing the fuck out of Timesplitters 2 (Arcade-y FPS) and Champions: Return to Arms (Hack'n'slash RPG), two dear old favourites of mine.

So what older games have you been hitting up lately?

I still play Age of Mythology: the Titans.

And Kohan 2, it's awesome. Along with Warlords: Battlecry 3.

Been playing a bit of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 Sith Lords lately. Add that to Galactic Civilizations 2, and a bit of Fallout 2.

I just beat Deus Ex for the 10th time or so last week.  Not long before that I played through Fallout 2 and not long before that I beat Stronghold: Crusader's Crusader Trail again.

I tend to cycle through those three every few years for some reason.  I also tend to mix in the first two Aliens vs. Predator computer games for some reason, but I've lost my discs or can't get them to run on any computers.

...I am suddenly aware that it has been entirely too long since I've played any of the good Mega Man X games.  My SNES broke and my Playstation is barely functional.  :(

I played Empire Earth not too long ago. It's an... expansive game though I always find it rather slow. Resource gathering at the default speed takes too long in my mind. I still prefer Rise of Nations over Empire Earth.

Other then that, Mount and Blade original? That's not really old, and I was trying out the 1866 western mod, that's a nicely done mod. Mount and Blade always feels rather empty to me though.

Been playing Mega Race lately to relive some nostalgia of my youth. Still as fun as I remember it to be.

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

It certainly takes a while until they stop giving you REALLY terrible prizes.

Is that the one where you race futuristic cars and shoot missiles everywhere? Because that would definitely tempt me to see if I can find a copy and play it again.

To my knowledge you get a machine gun and only certain cars get missiles. You can also blow up cars by driving past them (but often it isn't the best option)

Been playing some Baldurs Gate and Alpha Centauri quite recently. Next up is probably my billionth run through Fallout 1 & 2 since it's a couple years since I last played those.
