Walking around and fighting feels like it does in EQ or WoW, albeit with some welcome embellishments.
Eh? It really is more like recent games in this regard, with the active blocking and dodging, and the limited number of skills you can have available during a fight. Standing in place running through a predetermined sequence of skills isn't going to let you win a fight against anything bigger than a mud crab. The holy trinity is in place, but that's probably a good call after Guild Wars 2's failed attempt to undo it. Also, not sure there are too many ways a game can represent walking around.

I'll wait until this inevitably goes F2P, then I'll pick it up and play for a month (at best) before I shake my head and mourn another perfectly awesome single-player IP that was slaughtered by the awful MMO fad.

Heh, this.

Box + subscription + cash shop out of the gate? They're milking Elder Scrolls fanboys for cash and planning to go free-to-play sooner than later.

I also think that some people are blowing the lore thing a bit out of proportion. Inconsistant and contradictory lore is a perfectly valid reason to dislike it, but some people seem to act like this is an affront to morality itself, particularly with statements like "no one should buy this game" as if all other potential players should be similarly offended by the lore issues.

The lore issues arent influencing my personal decision to buy the game one way or another (its mostly the exorbitant price that is).

You may not care about the lore itself, but for those who do, of course it's a reason not to buy the game.

This only seems to apply to Imperials from what I can tell. (Imperials are boring anyway ).

Only because the lore isn't adequately portrayed ingame :P

A friend convinced me to sign up for the beta and I got in this week.   I'm not a fan of their payment model, in fact I despise it.  But my friend insists it's worth it.  I guess I'll see for myself.  I managed to get into FF14 (and am still playing it) even though I don't like that payment model either.

So basically posting to watch and to say you may see me ingame.

Is that TESO's version of "Sorry, You Cannot Connect To The Server And We Have No Fucking Clue Why Because We Refuse To Add Proper Error Codes"?

More like "Error, Servers Being Bum-rushed". But yes.

Aye. Although that's to be expected with a stress test, really; I just would've liked to log on even once before everything went down. And at the moment it's giving a "servers are down for maintenance" message, so.. progress?

They should have gotten cute and said "The servers have taken an arrow to the knee".

moderately terrible... can't imagine there's a force in the universe that'll make me pay box+monthly for this laughable excuse of an elder scrolls mmo

The price tag, monthly sub, cash shop, and preorder bonus already raised an alarm bell before the game even launched.

IMHO there is no justification to play this over Guild Wars 2.
