Hum. I have no prior knowledge of what to do about slime, although I am sure we shouldn't cut it. I am tempted to throw chalk at it and run, given it is acidic, but I don't have very much. Or burn it, but that wouldn't get us past it.

I have +8 Balance. I might have a good chance of getting over a plank? Not sure why I didn't take two more ranks of tumble... Can everyone else get over it though?

Perhaps I should collect a small sample to experiment on, but then I don't know if I have anything suitable for carrying bits of slime (I could empty out a container).

Thoughts?

Shoulda had your goliath girl carry your alchemist tools for you :P Then I'd of ruled you had as many beakers as and flasks as you needs.

From your junk loot you got from killing the Splinterwaif, you've got a few bags, a box, and a small wooden cask which no one opened.

Edit: Also, I'm sure you could get over the plank and not fall into the slime. But, the slime is alive, which complicates your free-running acrobatic heroism somewhat.

But they're my precious lab equipments! I was expecting a stroll round the city, not field alchemy!


Anyway, further to the above, I imagine Matthias doesn't have a great deal of ranks in balancing, and might not be able to get over. Hmm.

We do have rope and grappling hooks. We could just climb around it and I might be able to risk jumping across the thing, given my ranks in both tumble, jump and natural goliath ability.

I got a 20 on my check, but I didn't get anything too useful. Oozes typically turn into whatever they absorb around where they live, a mountain ooze would be covered in rocks for example, but this one seems odd to say the least. What could have turned it orange???

Clearly, some rogue alchemist in this neighborhood accidentally invented Tang.  Alternately, hobgoblins.  ^_^

Actually, I'm trimming my original action request, since I'm pretty sure the routes highlighted in the IC are the ones most readily available.  Maybe we can climb up and follow the roofs to get around, though.  Particularly-dense cities like this tend to effectively have two routes - the one for common folk, and the one on the roofs and other unusual routes for those "acrobats" of ill repute.

Who needs a rogue when you have a skeleton?

I think it will be best, now that one trap has been set off, that I go in front – I can probably go quieter than a skeleton, and perhaps gain surprise if there is anyone left round here. Or perhaps just take enough damage to justify using a CLW… Wait, we don’t actually have a magical healer, do we?

...really, I'd probably toss you guys a hireling Cleric if you went looking for one-assuming you can find a necromancer friendly cleric to work with Mathias. Or check out the factions you've got favor in-a little bit of grease could get you some decent help.
