Question about workshops.
« on: November 18, 2013, 01:47:00 pm »

Lets say I say make pots, then put it on repeat. Then say make something else, lets say blocks. If I put both on repeat, does the dwarf alternate making them both repeatedly or does he only make the top one over and over.

Yes, they do. Not sure how exactly this happens, but they certainly do.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

If I'm not mistaken the repeated job goes to the bottom of the queue once it is done, if you, for example, fill a workshop with suspended jobs and one active and on repeat job you'll see the active job always being the one in the bottom.

I may be wrong thought, I'm just speaking from a pattern I've noticed.

I'm not 100% that I understand your set up.  But if you are just setting the jobs from the workshop interface, it should only go to the second if the first runs out of material.  If you set the workshop to repeat blocks but schedule from the manager to make pots it will work the pots in.

You are correct.

You are not correct.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

It get cancelled or removed, all of workshop jobs take turns and job goes back to bottom of the list when it's finished. I usually uses it for brewing and it stops ( removes itself ) when I either runs out of barrels or brewable plants.

Lets say I say make pots, then put it on repeat. Then say make something else, lets say blocks. If I put both on repeat, does the dwarf alternate making them both repeatedly or does he only make the top one over and over.

Down the list, pretty much, each job takes a turn and goes to bottom of list when done. It's particularly useful for glassmaking, setting a few sand collection to repeat and equally much glassmaking job after it on repeat with some buffer is pretty fun.

In the context "done" means "one pot is made".

The mountainhome has far too many degenerates too deal with by itself, so it sends out minor nobles to establish penal colonies across the world.
