Aw, come on man. You even looking at it's Energy-Readings? Quite sure it can't power all of it at once. Well, sure, as we take out one system it will power the next, but thats all there is to it.

Fireworks? I love me some fireworks. Go-time Team!

It seems that DarkPaladin is not going to show up tonight, so update anyways.
Cast a ♦ spell at mastahcheese as I flee from the alley.
All spells are ♦ spells, that's what ♦ is. Care to elaborate, or do you intend to make mastahcheese invulnerable?
Hit him with a fireball.
Dodge the incoming fireball, and send an arrow into his being!
Fireball: K♣ 4♥ 2♣ 9♥ 8♣ 9♦: 6+1 success, 6 awful (Overshoooot!)
Dodge: 8♣ 6♠ J♣ 4♦ 9♠: 5 success, 1 awful, 1 redraw (6♥, no additional bonii) (Critical!)
Arrow: 9♣ 8♠ 2♣ 7♥: 5+2 success, 3 awful (Critical!)
Dodge: 2♣ A♥ A♣: 2 success, 4 awful, 2 redraw (6♠ K♥:+3 success, +1 awful) (Overshoot!)
Do nothing (♠/♥): 10♥ 3♥ 6♦: 3 successes, 1 awful (Critical!)

Elephant Parade roars with indignation. His magic power afforded him the highest rank of Wizardcrats, and he ruled planets upon planets in his world. That weapons would be pointed at him is an outrage, and Gabthamu Phthagor!
Mastahcheese immediately propels himself upwards, something he could not do were he not reduced to a soul here in Hell. He climbs upwards, chased by a massive pillar of flame... which propels Elephant Parade upwards, and is drilling a hole through the ground below. Somehow, the spell came out of his back-end instead of his hands as intended, and the miscast is draining much of his soul essence, causing his internal light to ebb. Mastahcheese prepares an arrow, aims behind himself, and releases; the arrow flies true, passing between passerby's and right at Elephant Parade. He tries to avoid it, but the backfiring spell causes him to turn to far, and he goes into a violent spin that tears him apart and sprays him across the alleyway.
DarkPaladin does his best to look innocent beside the smoldering hole left behind, and blend in with passing spirits. In fact, they pay him just as much mind as they were before, and he starts sneaking off in a group of them.

Elephant Parade: ♠3 ♣3 ♥4 ♦6
+Tome (Omnirange, +1♦ success)
KINDA DEAD. Soul scattered, will take several months to reform.

Mastahcheese: ♠5 ♣4 ♥3 ♦4
+Bow (Med-to-Long reach, +2♣ success)

darkpaladin109: ♠3 ♣5 ♥3 ♦5
+Frightening Polearm (Close-to-Med-range reach, +1♣or♥ success)

Obviously I made the Criticals too easy to get. Should I make next turn use the current criticals as an ordinary success and criticals be 1.5x harder to get? Also, some very bad luck for EP, who gets 1.5 tokens back for his bet against himself!

((Well apparently the game doesn't let you save and quit in a potentially hostile situation, so I'll have to go through the whole combat in one go rather than segment it, since I need to go to sleep soon.

Thank you, Highmax for telling me what you want to focus fire on. Unfortunantly I ran this before seeing your post that you wanted to power down the missiles, so you used a couple.))

Through the battle, the ship fails to penetrate Lurker's shields in any way, and Highmax charges the weapons while it's cloaked, to unleash on it when it becomes visible again.
Elephant Parade looks up from his seat at the controls when he gets the message that the enemy ship has been destroyed, then goes back to clipping his toe nails.

The investigation of the station reveals nothing, it's been stripped.

Yeah, I think you should do that.

Always bet against yourself.

Use forbidden magic to reform.

Why is it that I always get terrible rolls in wizard games?

I say north of the shopping center and then double back to the store for some goodies. And EP, you doubted me? I know you're wary, but sometimes you must trust your fellow crew-mates.

Enough of this grammar nonsense! I'm sure the rebels are going to catch up the more we bicker about things.

... the heck you care how I speak? Still grumpy that we don't regret taking it down? You hear some badly stiffled laughter over the Intercom. Like, he's not really trying to hide it. At all. Haah, maan. Allright, allright, sorry, my bad. Either way... No sign of 'dem bastards yet, right? I say we can take the small detour to the north-eastern gate, with time to spare. We will end up hiding in the nebula in this sector soon either way, so let's make the most of it.

As long as EP doesn't get us trapped in a storm like my last crewmates did, we'll be fine. Damned slugs and their bio-weapons and their nebulas... *grumbles angrily*

EDIT:
I'm gonig to bed right now, so to advance things along, fight in any combat scenario if they don't have missiles, in which case you'll have to wait for me to make a final decision unless the others agree. Fire on shields/weapons first, unless they have drones, in which case, shields/drones/weapons.

I swear, if I wake up in 7 hours and find you guys blew up the ship without me, in the first sector, I'll be disappointed...

Ignore the other guy, sneak off.
Use forbidden magic to reform.
Use wizard powers to enslave the wandering souls to do my bidding.
Sneak: 5♣ 10♥ 8♦ 6♥ Q♠: 5 successes, 1 awful (Successful)
Reform?!:7♠ A♥ J♥ Joker K♦ A♣: 7 +1 successes, 4+2 awfuls, 5 redraws (3♣ A♠ Q♠ 2♠ 5♠: +3 successes, +4 awfuls, +1redraw (6♠:no bonii)) (11 successes! Less Awful than success! Criticaaaaal!)
Diplomance (♦): 10♠ 7♦ 7♠ 2♦ 2♣: 5 successes, 5 awful (Catastrophe!)
Diplomance 2nd chance (♥): 5♦ A♦ 6♥: 2+1 successes, 2 awful, 1 redraw (2♥: +1success, +2 awful) (Catastrophe!)

DarkPaladin brandishes his pole arm menacingly, and with a shade of magic in his voice, commands the spirits around him to attack, failing to specify a target. They immediately take notice of the attempt at manipulation, and seeing his nasty weapon, attack without mercy. They pull his soul apart, absorbing parts of his essence into their own, and scattering the rest.
Meanwhile, a certain tome falls against the sidewalk, splitting open to a certain page. This page bursts with multicolored light, and bits of soul are quickly drawn into it from the walls of the alleyway. Within moments, Elephant Parade has reformed thanks to his contingency plan; he didn't even attract the attention of any demons!
Mastahcheese, taking advantage of the lightshow, manages to travel several hundred meters away, over halfway to the closest street, without being noticed.

Elephant Parade: ♠3 ♣3 ♥4 ♦6
+Tome (Omnirange, +1♦ success)

Mastahcheese: ♠5 ♣4 ♥3 ♦4
+Bow (Med-to-Long reach, +2♣ success)

darkpaladin109: ♠3 ♣5 ♥3 ♦5
+Frightening Polearm (Close-to-Med-range reach, +1♣or♥ success)
KINDA DEAD. Soul scattered, will take several months to reform.

Well, despite a penalty, EP manages to get BACK IN, and we see the first Joker Draw. The modified success/critical ratio means that we would have gotten 3 non-criticals this turn, baring the Awful System, which turned two of them into catastrophes. Try to guess what yields redraws so far.  ;)

Protect myself with an ethereal barrier.

Wait.

If I died a second time, would I collect on the bet again?

I'm ruling this second life as a new opportunity to bet, and subsequently collect. So... no?
