What is the point of guard? Why is it useless?
Attack!

Guard halves damage received. Unless you think you're about to take a ton of damage, it's not something you want to use.

[4]You strike! The polar bear is wreathed in flames! It suffers 100 points of damage! The polar bear is slain!

You have won!

Okay, test over. Time for a new test.

What is your name?
Are you average, strong, or fast?
What is your weapon?
What is your item?
What is your special attack?
What is your special skill?

Special attacks should be offensive (fire breath, lightning bolt, etc.) in nature, whereas special skills shouldn't be offensive, and should instead be defensive (teleportation, barrier, etc.). Weaker attacks and skills will have more uses.

The battlefield will be a stone arena.

I'll need two people. You can PM me your special attack, item, and skill, if you want them to be secret.

This is a simplified and modified version of something mastahcheese ran a while back.

That does seem familier.

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

I don't remember what it was called, but it was some sort of illustrated arena thing. I'm using ASCII instead, since I can't draw.

Name: PH-408b
Fast
Steel hatchet
Potion of Poison
Paralytic Hit (Paralyses when an attack hits.)
Invisibility
FYI, special attacks are active, not passive. You only get two actions per turn, so you might not be able to use Paralytic Hit and strike on the same turn.

Okay. This will be ASCII Arena, then.

Ok. That was meant as an active, but will Paralyse work instead?

Paralyse will work.

There's nothing wrong with a special attack that inflicts paralysis; it just was phrased as a passive ability.
