A small crab-like or maybe spider-like... Thing appears from around the corner, it has a small blue light on it that seems to be scanning the area.
"Where am I?!?"
The strange metal creature stops shuffling, and the light faces you.
"What time is it?!?! What day is it?!?"
The light shifts from blue to red, and it begins to rapidly move towards you.
"WHAT YEAR IS IT?!?!"
You spin the plasma gun around, and pull the trigger right as the metal monstrosity leaps at you, transmuting it into a shower of sparks, scrap metal, and corrosive ooze!

One of the lights on the gun goes out.
There's one left.

((Damnit mastahcheese, you're supposed to be done the map by now!))

Find out what powers this thing so we can get those lights back on! Keep our distance from the ooze. Go down the hallway and if it stops working, bludgeon things with it!

Map can wait. Busy.

You make your way down the corridor, making sure not to step in the puddle of enemy.
You turn the corner, and the path branches off to the left and right.
You can hear some noises from the left, that might be someone talking.
You examine your gun to see if there are any ways to get those lights back, but other than what you've already fiddled with, there's really nothing else of interest.
Although now that you think of it, there are interesting grooves on the top of it that might allow you to slot something into it.

You head to the left, and come across some talking that appears to be talking to himself.
"No, I still haven't-"
"WHERE AM I!?!"
The man spins around suddenly, observing you pointing your gun at his face. He has his own gun, but he's not raising it yet.
"Whoa, calm down, I'm not an enemy."
"What time is it? What day?"
"I... We're on a spaceship orbiting an alien planet, I don't know what the time would be translated into, everything's gone to hell."
"What year is it?"
"Um, we left Telonis in the year 4063, I think that the jump takes about 8 months to get this far out?"
The guy starts shifting uncomfortably as you keep your weapon trained on him.
"Look, did you get your memory wiped, too? You seem really confused. I can help."

"How can you help me?" Lower the weapon but have it ready in case he turns hostile

(I think this game is pretty much just running for highmax at this point :P)

"Well, I could bring you to the command center, from there, we can figure out whatever needs done."
He calms down when he sees you lower the weapon.
"Do you know what's going on at all? You haven't seen any little robots running about have you? Anybody that tries to shoot on sight?"

"A spider? Do you mean a mechanical one of an organic one? Because if it was organic than we've got another damn problem to add to the list."
He starts heading back the way you came, and leads you down the path that you didn't take.
"I see your insignia says ASCII, you part of the science team? Do you know what could have gone wrong with the Overseer?"
He looks at your nametag
"Mark. I'm Nicolai Peters, from Engineering, but you could probably see that yourself."
He points to the designation on his own shoulder, which read AEN04.

It was a combination of both mechanical and biological parts.

"Well, let's just hope it only looked like it was partly organic. Since you seem to have had your memory wiped, I'll try to catch you up.
We're on Deep Sector Ship 1, it's a colony ship with a crew of 1 billion. Long story behind that.
Anyway, the planet that we're in orbit around, our new home, has been going through this sort of 3-step concept for colonization. First the hyper-evolution E.V.O. Project, then advanced AI Overseer project, and then us. The first two pave the wave for, or at least are supposed to. Don't ask me on specifics, I'm not a scientist. The ship has been infiltrated by a terrorist group called the Paladins. They're a bunch of insane nuts who blame humans for everything, as far as I can tell.
Anyway, they hacked into the Overseer to view humans as enemy, and now we've got a bunch of the Seer drones onboard, along with the Paladin douchebags.
We need to regain control of this ship, and then get supplies down to the surface."

He comes to a stop at a door.
"Command center isn't much farther, but I dodged a patrol through this next section earlier.
How much ammo have you got left?"

Indicate the glowing light on gun thing. Indicate that we have trouble using it.
