Don't worry, Darkwind3, you have a special place in my hearth too. Right next to my Growing Fury-casting rishis. They've probably killed almost as many Yogis as you did.

IP, you're (almost) dead. Had any thoughts about signing up for some hot disciple action over at 404? Same for the rest of you, but I'm assuming lategame is too overbearing at the moment.

Stay cool guys! and kill Albright

You know, being mediocre is suffering.

Though it's been a long game of MUCH political intrigue and talking. There hasn't been all that much aggressive action on Abysia's part, but more than enough thought to its defense.

The game has reached a point where it's safe to say the magmamen survived. But that's really all; survived. Now it's just a brawl between the few remaining superpowers prepped for the lategame.

That's awesome, but at the same time, saddening. I won't be going AI to avoid chaos, but it's fair enough to say I can safely let go on the reins. Had a lot of fun though, early/midgame was exciting.  8)

Boksi, I've pushed hosting to 0830GMT. Is that going to be enough time, or do you need another block dropped on top of that?

Yeah, I ought to be able to get this done. I made the silly error of forgetting to download the new turn, then thinking I had already done the turn and sent in last turn's 2h file again.

Why oh why was there no talking with the monkeys? More often than not, you didn't even bother to reply to my inquiries about mutually beneficial trade relations. And boy, was I in need of those fiery items!

edit: Oh, for fucks sake. It's the second round a 200-strong army couldn't find even one of the four black servants hiding in Bandar Log. What are the odds of that?

Very slight. Also, there's more than four.

I could not stop grinning at the thought of monkeys scurrying about the capitol, trying to find shades that kept sinking into walls and stuff, all the while a horrible, rotting disease was spreading. I worry about myself.

Also your avatar is very fitting for this.

Fellas, I'm going to set myself to AI. Commitments are calling. In a way I'm glad Bandar Log is such a wreck right now, as otherwise you'd have to look for a replacement.

See you around.

It was really fun and interesting and dramatic playing with you, Il Palazzo! I hope to see it happen again. Well, maybe with a different configuration for daggersinking.

Always a pleasure, Il Palazzo.

Care to share your design and some notes now that your game's over? What worked, what didn't. What you'd have done differently etc.. Monkeys are on my to-play list and it'd be nice to have your input if I ever go BL way.
RL commitments permitting, of course.

It's been fun! Fighting monkey nations has never been my strong suit (I have bad memories of Patala surprising me with Mass Flight + earthquake spam in dom 3), so I'm surprised I managed to stalemate you even with my superior resources. I still don't really have an answer to B9N9 Gandharvas!

It's really a shame there was never any chance for lasting peace between us. With your position relative to mine, conflict was inevitable and I was honestly surprised it took you as long as it did to declare war.

In hindsight, B9 was probably not worth it. The blood vengeance did help to kill some chaff faster, but the only really useful application of it was when you started casting wrathful skies(or whatever it's called) in battle.
Branching into blood is always tempting with monkeys, but by the time I started blood hunting the show was practically over.
So yeah, better scales(I was rarely able to recruit, and was broke for the last year), or something like D9(undying having nice synergy with N9's HP and regen) would probably be a better choice.

And it took me so long to attack you, Darkwind, because I was ridiculously wishy-washy about choosing between the two undead hordes around me. I knew I could only fight one of you, and the proximity meant that I'd be wide open for an attack from the other one while my armies were away.
The end result was too much waiting and too little proactive invading.

Still, turns out monkeys are really good at anti-undead operations. Took me a bit too long to realise that a bunch of Yogis in a communion casting Solar Rays are more versatile and a better use of resources than recruiting hordes of Brahmins.

Never did manage to throw together a SC or even a proper thug. Without access to brazen shields, it seemed like a waste of resources in the light of constantly looming Vengeance of the Dead(I never had much luck punching through MR with it in dom3, so I wasn't expecting it being such a nuisance - what with all those rishis and celestials having high resistance).

Anyway, good game guys! Definitely strained me old brains on this one.
I really should be going now :)

4.05 is out. Update if you haven't already; I don't normally run through Desura or Steam, so I had to go out of my way to do so.

I literally went into Dominions 4 blind and have never played Abysia until now.

And it showed. Oooh boy. What a mess. Early game wasn't bad, heavy infantry are mighty powerful especially when you're made of magma, but closer to midgame I got messed up massively due to burden of time; all my mages who are heavily into fire, age quickly, and start off with very advanced age to begin with, basically started dying like flies and at some point every turn one would die for every one I could recruit.
Things turned even uglier when midgame did arrive and I had no set magic strategy, no magic units, no magic anything and my only real path was fire and some blood.
When the squid started casting mass stellar lights, and mass flight even my trusty troops were useless.
I'd comment on what worked, but from my perspective it seemed that nothing really did. 8) At least I survived for so long, would play again in the near future.
