Yeah, well. How about an extra 18? It's been a hectic week, and the turn is not trivial.

Well, since I didn't give sum1won what he asked for, you're going to have to settle for 24h extra instead of 18.

Hosting now 0509GMT Saturday.

With that in mind, can I suggest switching to a 24 hr notice?  The 12 hour comes up at inconvenient times if I'm going to be at the office forever.  How would people feel about this?

I am apathetic towards such a change!

You may have noticed that I have no opinion about the hosting notice change.

Heh, Darkwind, remote killing PMS won you that battle at Nifel. Casting mass flight without the benefit of celestial music and bless could not end up well.

And then at Faery Forest you had some good luck with magic duels, you have to admit. Killing my Kinnara in a crowd of six rishis and a bunch of yogis was not an outcome I'd wager on. I understand that army dissolved after rout, or are rivers always passable for the purposes of encirclement?

But I don't understand why in neither of the two battles my rishis decided not to cast Foul Vapours(one cast Growing Fury instead, the smart alec he was). Is there some extra requirement for the spell, like swamp terrain maybe?

Foul Vapors definitely doesn't need swamp; I just fired up Debug Mod and cast it in forest and plains.

Rivers are passable for encirclement purposes only if frozen or if you're amphibious. If you're a flyer, unfrozen rivers can be traversed to attack, but not retreat. That's the only quirk in an otherwise-straightforward rule of "if you can cross it, you can retreat across it".

The rivers are passable, so yes, the remnants of that army still exist. Sad I lost that Wight Mage, but lemonparty and the other GTs survived. I suppose a prophet for a prophet leaves the whole world blind. I was trying to kill your Spectral Mage with those magic duels, by the way. The Kinnara was probably a better choice by my thaumaturgs though!

I have no idea how in the hell I managed to kill PMS, though. I hoped to do it but I was expecting to kill the rishi commanding all your gandharvas instead (bharath?). Did you teleport him out?

Apparently not so, according to Darkwind. All the rivers were thawed that turn, irrc.

Yeah, but you couldn't have killed him anyway. Vengeance of the Dead targets the unit with most kills, and he had relatively few. I knew PMS would get targetted in case of VoD, but him being a prophet I was pretty certain he'd be able to resist it, what with all the bonuses in friendly dominion.

By the way, it seems the rain lessens Solar Brilliance effects? It barely damaged your undead at all.

I still don't get the Foul Vapours thingy.

Not all of them(e.g., shadow vestals, wights, banes). Besides, most of the amphibious ones are mindless and dissolve when routed.
Anyway, the survivors were all either non-amphibious undead or humans.

EDIT: By the way, guys, but Darkwind especially: can we agree not to use single scout units to siege forts? That always seemed to me in the same exploity category as using single commanders to move-block armies.

Were the rivers passable last turn, but not this one, or vice-versa? It seems like status changes makes it a little harder to predict passability (and it's annoying to check that, not least because natural status changes aren't necessarily going to fire at the same time as e.g. Wolfen Winter).

The rivers were definitely passable last turn, and are definitely passable this turn. Maybe there's some funky interface thing going on making you think the rivers weren't passable?

Bharath had 91 kills as of last turn, PMS 89. He barely edged out PMS for kills.

Solar Brilliance is MR Negates Easily. I make a habit of casting Antimagic whenever possible, and even when I don't longdead horsemen start with MR 10. You'd see more luck against Ermor's soulless hordes, but soulless are only useful for dying (again) anyways.

I had no idea Stygian Rains actually cast Rain too, though, that's pretty cool. I think casting it lost me that battle, unfortunately. I would probably have killed more of your berserked mages, anyways.

As for Foul Vapors, you just didn't give your commanders enough N gems. Amitayus and Darghasana both had 2 gems and spent both on Serpent's Blessing.
EDIT: By the way, guys, but Darkwind especially: can we agree not to use single scout units to siege forts? That always seemed to me in the same exploity category as using single commanders to move-block armies.
No problem! I honestly hadn't given it much thought but I'll stop.
