What do order scales have to do with it?

There are A LOT more gem events (also barbarian and villian events too) compared to Dominions 3.

Doesn't that just mean that people have to cope with less gem income than they did in Dom3? So less but more meaningful battlemagicks and summons.

Some nations like Agartha and Caelum lacks many paths and have subpar troops, so they need every gem they can get. 55 works about the same as dom3.

We're already at 50% magic sites, which I think is probably high enough. 55 would make a nice early age setting.

No one signed up as those nations anyways, and its not like only those 2 get more gems even if they were in the game, other nations would also have more sites and thus have more gems to allow more rituals and the big battlefield spells as well.

Agreed, due to the lack of diversity in EA over MA and LA. 50 seems fine for MA and LA then.

Why do so many games insist on placing their saves/files in a place that's NOT where I installed the game itself? If I was five years younger I'd be raging at this.

Pretender sent. I could have waffled longer but I doubt I'd be learning anything meaningful about pretender design/national syngergies in a reasonable amount of time.

Soon all shall feel the cold blade of the Rus.

*No one signed up as those nations yet.

I'm waffling about switching to Argatha pretty hard. I think it'd be a deathtrap for me given my typical playstyle, but I kinda feel the same about Pythium.

I'd also point out that the group who'd probably feel the biggest difference if we upped the magic site count would be blood nations, as they'd get their gem income and their slave income boosted...

Well Valanis is tailor made for Agartha in mind, so there's that. Blood sites that generate slaves are bloody rare even at higher occurrence. I've already had a few serious multiplayer games of Dom4, and it's the general consensus on the goon and invision forums that higher site rarity would probably be for the best.

It's not the slave-generating sites that I'm referring to; it's rather that whole bit where magic site rarity directly influences blood harvest returns.

It's also worth considering that - while I can't speak for Goon mentality - the invision crowd has shown unfortunate tendencies to cleave towards a "Dom4 should be Dom3 with a better UI" mindset when it comes to some of Illwinter's attempts to alter game flow; e.g., the notion that early and mid games should last longer, and that recruited troops should have a more significant role.

Whatever gets the game rolling I guess. It's not like we've banned any nations.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing how Shinyuma plays out. I was considering them myself before I settled for Rus.

I'd certainly have no room to object to a water nation. Delta said, we left the nation selection wide open, and the map has enough room for at least 1.5-2 water nations before it starts getting cramped.

Better get those forest labs up and running, Delta. Bloodhunting already did get kind of nerfed by the lack of overtaxing.
