Point. I only really bothered posting it because it's one of the first two google results if you type in "salty bet tier list", and it was helpful for at least distinguishing in potato vs. god tier games prior to the automated balanced matchmaking. It's much less useful now that the system tends to do equal tier match ups.

do people really say that and believe it's true

there's no automated balanced matchmaking on salty, there are just tiers, and these tiers are literally made on the various whims of nobody even knows who but probably someone who knows salty

Um, no, they actually have implemented tiered matchmaking. It's based on win rate. Came into effect... late last month? Or earlier this one. Check here for more information, under matchmaking.

The tiers can seem arbitrary, their logic poorly thought out, with many characters on sides of a dividing line they shouldn't be on, but it does exist.

It's... the logic is straightforward and simple, and... probably one of the better ones for something like Saltybet. The FAQ lays it out kinda' bluntly. There's four tiers, S, A, B, P. Characters are assigned to each based on win percentage. That's it, entirely. The longer the matchmaking continues to operate, the more accurate the tiering will become, as is normal for this sort of tiering system.

I saw Zeeky H Bomb and instantly bet all on him.

He lost. To a random touhou character.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

The matches are infinitely more even with tiers then without, before they rolled around it seemed like you got a real fight maybe once an hour or two.

They're a little rough, but they're gonna be unless you seperate the entire roster into like 10 tiers.

Also if you ever see Piyokong go for him and watch the preceedings in wonder and terror.

Also how did zeeky get beat (besides no hitbox)? Does getting hit make his "everyone dies" starter cancel out or am I just mistaken and it's actually a super he'll randomly use?

Zeek's insta-kill is a super*, yeah. Otherwise it's just got a fair amount of spam and not much else. There's definitely more than one touhou that can take it, heh.

Also hell yeah giant peep of doom. Piyo actually gets squished... not exactly often, but a notable amount... but yeah, it's a joy to behold.

*E: One that it doesn't seem too terribly inclined to actually use. I've seen the thing maybe... six, seven times? It's exploded for me maybe twice.

So how do I resize the window the video shows up in? I'd like to bother with this but the fact that the chatbox is still having that error is making me want to just say fuck it all.

Now we just need a creeper vs. dope fish ultimate showdown. First one to hit wins!

I think it was about a month ago now, yeah (though for the first week or so it wasn't very useful) :P.

The problem with tiers is that you'll get two potatos enjoying a nice staring contest.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Good point, but I'll take the occasional dual potato match over hours and hours of god-tier vs. potato 5000:1 odds matches.

Alright, I'm done. The big book of stats is fucking finished, and it took me only a week of pure datamining. >.>

Time to see if any of this holds up in practice...

I've seen him once and he used it in 3/4 rounds.
