I never read anyone talking like that, at least not in these forums.

Yes but its been discussed at length already in even the world of tanks thread, and in every single wargaming game centric thread anywhere, in every chat room in which World of warplanes is bought it, EVERYWHERE and yet warthunder players still push you the moment you mention WoWP. (In fact there are warthunder players who register on the official WoWP forum just to do "Omgs everyone warthunder is so much better everyone play it now!" This topic was specifically for the few of us who actually enjoy WoWP to the point I specifically requested in the OP that we please not let it become yet another "Warthunder is so much better topic"

I tried this a long while ago in beta and it didn't have cockpit view then, does it have it now?

Nah, its still mainly 3rd person based, just as well, I'm terrible at camera usage in games like IL-2 so at least I have a somewhat better situational awareness.

I don't think it's just brand loyalty. You forget that these F2P games require a certain time investment, and if someone has made enough of that investment it's kinda expected that they'll be reluctant in just thrashing it all and switching to a different game that they'll need to invest an equal (or greater) amount of time to get to the same place.

Like Rilder, I had considered WT but I just couldn't be arsed to try it since that would mean another F2P game to keep track of, another system to learn and master, that's annoying and takes time, and from what I've seen the game itself offers improvements over WoWP which to me aren't really improvements (WoWP runs badly as is, I don't need something that'll hog even more system resources).

And I won't be going to WT tanks either, simply because WoT has had over three years to build up a decent game, which they have, and they keep improving, to trade all of that for shinier graphics and a much worse selection of vehicles is silly.
So I really hope you guys have gotten the whole WT BETTER HUAGH! stuff out of your system on the last page, because jumping in just to say that isn't really helping anyone.

I'm just going to throw this one last thing in there, on the whole performance thing, I used to play World of Tanks quite a while back, and I did try out WoWP when it just came out, and WoT and WoWP are much more resource intensive for the same graphics level.  I'm not saying that either game is necessarily better than the other, but engine-wise, WT does run better while also looking better.

Honestly I seem to recall WoT forum being extremely hostile toward anyone talking about WT and urging them to not even speak of it, when WT's beta was first starting out. So.. yea. I don't think it's a good idea to judge either game based on its' fans, because they both seem to be highly fanboy-ish.

I dunno, the lack of a decent damage system in WoWP kinda kills it for me.

I understand it in WoT because hey, they're tanks which means they are basically massive blocks of armour with a gun on top. Yes, you can definetly hurt it more by shooting at the base of the turret or at the back, but a serious damage system really wouldn't add that much.
Planes, on the other hand, are lightweight nimble speedy bastards, often made only of plywood and glue, and shooting it into the wing/tail definetly spells out a bad day for it.

But despite its flaws (which will most likely be ironed out in patches), I can appreciate WoWP for what it is; a fun arcade dogfight sim with quite a bit of depth to it. I will still stick to WT, because a)it has a decent damage system, b) It runs better on my computer and c) I am more used to it.

But I will definetly keep an eye out for WoWP, to see if it gets the polish WoT has.

I'll be honest here. I tried WoP. I really tried, but I couldn't stand it. The thing is, WT offered a chance to break from that and try a system that interested me much more at a point in time where I wasn't substantially invested in either. It might have been different if WG had used the same setup as Gaijin, but with tanks and planes separated so completely (and me not having premium)...  :-\. Krevsin's point on the damage system was one of the really big things for me: it works with WoT because the whole armor penetration mechanic fits the theme of the game and meshes well with a pure HP system. I honestly think that the biggest mistake WG made with WoP was trying to convert that straight across, because when you come right down to it, aircraft are not tanks and should not behave in the same way. I'm not saying that anyone is wrong for playing WoP, just that I have different tastes and am honestly trying to talk people into trying both before they cement themselves too much in one.

So had my first "Good" match, 7 kill game in my Bristol 133. Basically had an ally take aggro then gank the fighters chasing him, ended with me vs 3 others and one of them deciding just to ram me. Rather pleased at the Brit plane performance thus far.
