Well, that was an eventful year!
We survived:
5 ambushes (4 within the first week of my overseership);
1 siege (destroyed with only 3 days left to Obsidian).
We lost:
9 Dwarfs, 2 of them babies (all from that first wave of ambushers)
We gained:
A metric shit-ton of goblinite;
Gold a-plenty;
A good deal of livestock;
The honour of being raised to a Barony (congrats to the baron, AquiziTC!).
We built:
A functional, central guard tower/xbow training space;
A working hospital and well system;
A slightly more efficient foundry stockpile system;
A deep, deep drop-pit;
Effective ramparts atop the walls;
A prison;
2 artifacts (a millstone [hooray!] and some pants [bleh]);
Some peek-a-boo fortifications to see the caverns better.
We found:
Lots of sphalerite, malachite, native gold;
The SMR levels;
Sadly, no candy yet, nor the magma sea.
We've also updated our squads to effectively train, as well as setting up burrows and alerts to pretty much automate defense.
Notes:
# of times the West bridge was raised: 0
# of cage traps laid out: 0
# of dwarfs lost after the initial wave of ambushes: 0
# of trade deals gone wrong: 0
# of uncontrolled floods: 0
# of tantrums: 0
# of kidnapped kids: 1
# of stolen items: 0
# of squads (total): 3: 2 Xbow, 1 melee (in full steel armor)
# of security holes: 1 (waiting for a mason to build a wall)
All in all, a pretty easy turn. Thanks, Grevenis, for leaving the fort in such a manageable condition!
My apologies for not doing a full pictorial walkabout, but my internet connection is slower than February molasses atm and I just don't have the patience.
