Check out the black bars. What's the worst they could be?
Warren Drake You jog over to the bars to investigate. However, during your jog, you trip over some roots and go headlong over the low stringed fence, which would seem pretty counter-intuitive compared to the black metal gate you just passed by. You crash over the fence and land on something softer than sand. You get a few minor bruises, but don't land on the sand... you land on an Aecrocian. A certain Aecrocian, actually...
(Refer to the post for Eh Ah for more information.)
Keep stroking my kitten, and check my computer screen closer, try to determine the cause of the rumbling, volcano? Land slide? Earthquake?
Keep calm, panicking won't so any good, and keep my (backpack, briefcase, whatever it was I snuck my kitten in with) close by.
Cromwell Jackson You would check your computer screen, but it switches off. All of the screens, actually. Every single one in your floor switches off. The lights illuminating the room are still on, oddly. Hushed murmurs circle the room and one man paces the room, rubbing his brow. The rumbling continues on a low drone. The ships are still out there on the horizon, but seem to be coming the island's direction. Your cat mews and hops into your backpack, shifting around in there.
Look in the direction of the noise. If it is anything disturbing, flee. The wildlife can be unpleasant, after all.
Eh Ah You barely look in that direction only to see an Atisi slam into your head, crashing you into the sand and giving you some scratches on your arms, but nothing major. You land on the sand and the Atisi lands on top of you. You can feel the sand grains vibrating slightly beneath your scratched arms.
"Yes, Hello?" Cecil says as he walks over the the studio door to open it.
Open door and greet knocker.
Cecil G. Palmer You open the door to see your...
adoptive father come in on his own accord. He wore his everyday suit, made from only the finest clothiers around Aecrocia, along with a sunset tie that was somewhat reflective. He had a jovial face that showed some age. His hair was silver and combed neatly to the front, and he had laugh wrinkles near his eyes. He had a voice absolutely made for the radio, smooth and deep toned. He had a small smile on his face.
"Guess what I brought for your upcoming birthday, Cecil!
Actually, I'll just say it! Congratulations, you are now engaged!"You can still hear the low vibration of the floor in your ears.
Wait quietly, watch, and listen, gently swaying every so slightly from side to side on my perch in rhythm with the breeze.
You wait in the tree, calmly keeping to yourself. It almost is completely serene, besides the rumbling and the ships. Well,
almost.Enjoyin' your time there, miss?A voice comes out of thin air. It's female and sounds to be around your age, but with a lighter tone. Still, the voice itself seems to be circling you. Watching you.
No, you're not goin' crazy. Not yet at least, hehehe. I dunno how I got 'ere, but I'm with you now. No, not forever. But I'm 'ere. Riiiight. Here. The voice seems to circle behind you.
Alex starts running towards the volcano
Alex Raman You start running towards the volcano. This might not have been as good as an idea you thought of, however. You don't know this way through the forest, and it's been some time since you've been with the Magis. You don't know where you are now. You're in the middle of the densest part of the forest with no one to guide you around. You swear the rumbling is getting louder now. There are chips and buzzes all around you. Are you getting hungry? You can't tell.
Where are you?
Go and help the blacksmith. He took me in and raised me, so deserves more respect and gratitude than anyone else.
Unknown You grab the hammer and start working on the steel. It's going very smoothly along, and it's relaxing to hear the clang of the hammer on the steel. The blacksmith gets to work packing his things. He sighs regretfully.
"I don't wanna be leavin' the Magis. They be good people. But I be feelin' the winds changin'. There be certain things not under our control, and they be comin' for all o' them. All the Magis, all the techies, all the Atisi. All o' 'em."The clang of steel blocks off the sound of the rumbling. Even though you can't hear it, you almost sense what the blacksmith was talking about. The changes.
Change.
Diana nodded at the voice "Thank you." she take a few steps before asking "Where is she?"
Head for the replied place
Diana CrownThe servant tells you that the Queen is waiting for you down in the dining room. You head down there, a room lit by a chandelier and windows in the front. The Queen waits for you.
The Queen, as it were, is your aunt. Deborah Sijha-Crown, about middle age. She has dyed her hair using unknown mixtures, and is somewhat pale and gaunt, not to mention skinny. She wears a blue-black dress adorned with various jewels of shining blue and clear colors. She has an aged face and a constant scowl. She was checking herself in the mirror at the moment.
"Oh. Crown. You're finally here."She spared no attention your way.
"I have decided that the Aecrocians serve no purpose on the island. Despite having.. 'advanced' technology, I am fairly certain that our knowledge of their buildings and our use of explosive compounds will mean that we could have a swift and justified victory over the Aecrocians. Thus, I want you to direct our forces to set up ambushes and implant Aecrocian centers with explosives. I will carry out the rest. Maybe you could be useful for once, junior."Once again, she has not looked at you once, and checks her eyelashes in the mirror.
Your aunt has just asked you to bomb your neighbors without their knowing.
Rune charged out of his cave, and his eyes fixed in awe at what was coming out of the volcano, before rushing back into his cave and putting up the wall of stone he used to evade people's discovering of him. Hopefully, it would be enough to repel whatever was coming...
((I'm assuming this is eruption. If not, have him look at the source of the rumbling))
RuneYou're already prepared for this. You believe it's just another one of the act-ups that the volcano occasionally has, but you still make sure you're okay in case it does erupt. You don't see anything coming out of the volcano from this angle, but you put up the wall of stone just in case. All you can see are some ships coming closer... wait. Are they metal? You didn't think that there were any metal ships that came in to the port anymore except for the Aecrocian ships. Other than that, there weren't any. Why were these metal? And there were many of them too.
Sigh, find someone to delegate work to, pretend that delegating all the real work to underlings is what I'm supposed to be doing, then get back tot he pressing matter of looking out my government-issue windows at whatever may seem important.
ArnequerYou try to delegate orders to some subordinates, but they are all preoccupied with staring out the windows. People start talking among each other, saying that they didn't expect any Aecrocian ships on this day coming to port. You also try to look out the window, but your view is block.
You wonder what is happening. Were there really supposed to be Aecrocian ships at port on this day? You couldn't see right now, but how far were they? And what were they doing, if they were not Aecrocian ships?
Author's Note: There is a special event coming soon related to all this stuff that will radically change the island. And your characters might or might not gain their powers too.
