Those of you unfamiliar with the Total War series deserve a quick explanation. You play as one of several possible playable factions, attempting to take control of a region through force, subterfuge, violence, careful diplomacy, conquest, careful management of resources, and of course, by simply sending your armies in and wiping them off the face of the earth. There is both a strategic turn-based map, and a tactical real-time battle map for each battle. Total War: Shogun 2 is set, as one might assume, in Japan. Specifically in the Sengoku Jidai period, before the Tokugawa Shogunate.

DarthMod(see the spoiler) adds a lot to the game. As in, I haven't played it since v3.4, never did too much with it in the first place, and it's on v5.0, so I don't actually know how much 'a lot' is. However, from what I've seen it would improve gameplay greatly, particularly if I wanted to try something like this so it was as intuitive as possible. So without further ado, let's get to the game...

Of which clan are you daimyo?

• The Chosokabe, masters of the bow, whose peasants can work the ground like no other?
• The Shimazu, whose honor and loyalty to their lord is as great as their skill with the blade?
• The Hojo, equally skilled at making mighty castles as they are at tearing the walls of foes to the ground?
• The Mori, who may sail the waves as easily as they stride upon the ground?
• The Date, whose ferocity in combat is equaled by no other, much like their mastery of the great-sword?
• The Hattori, whom have at their command more ninja clans than any other clan?
• The Ikko-Ikki, revolutionaries, working for the good of the people, and fervent believers in the Jodo Shinsu faith?
• The Oda, whose foot-soldiers are trained to a far higher standard than less-progressive daimyos?
• The Takeda, as comfortable upon horseback as on their own two feet?
• The Tokugawa, whom have made intrigue an art, and more, even yoked to the Imagawa's chain?
• The Uesugi, pious and proudly so, believers of Shinso-Buddhism so as to make others aspire to their like?
• The Otomo, whose Christian beliefs and trade with the barbarians have allowed him access to powerful weapons, unlike any seen in Japan before?

I'd say Otomo, but if no-one supports them I change my vote to Uesugi. Religious fanatics are fun in every sense of the word.

Otomo is pretty fun, but I also like Tokugawa since they start in a bit of an annoying situation, so flip that vote between whichever is higher.

((I'll be trying to begin this shortly. However, we are tied, between Otomo, Uesugi, and Chosokabe, basically. I'll be breaking the tie myself, I think, going with the Chosokabe, as they are simplest and easiest to play, and we here at Bay12 don't know how to play. ))
