Thanks. As I said earlier, I'm still a noob, so abbrevations will typically mean nothing to me.

Fair play. I only found it during a pdf trawl myself :P

Hmm... I could play a rogue of some kind. I'll have to come up with some kind of build for it, but I can pull it off.

((The alternative idea was an awakened animal who fakes being a familiar alongside a cohort rogue who fakes being a spellcaster.))
This is glorious. Kobold Rogue or Artificer and a Pseudodragon would be similar.
Indeed.  I was all for it until I realized that Leadership requires level 6, so I'd either need to coordinate with another player or to figure something else out with the GM to get an early cohort for the build to work.

So, I'm guessing we still need a beatstick?
I'm planning on doing one myself, but the more, the merrier.  That's doubly-true since rather than a damage-dealer, I'll likely end up being a lockdown type of combatant (Knight/Crusader), using a Knight's abilities to help block threatened squares and to convince the enemies to swing at her instead (with a 50% shot of hitting whoever she's hiding under, if she's using Confound).  Only problem is that the Knight's mandated code of conduct is a little tricky for someone who uses Confound the Big Folk.  Confound makes the victim flat-footed automatically, but the Knight gets punished every time they hit a flat-footed enemy.  Why is D&D so focused on punishing people who want to fight smart in a melee? ;_;

Well, I'm considering a Kobold focused on cunning fighting, likely a Rogue or Artificer, so there's that.

My character will be basically the definition of squishy wizard, being a foot tall. A protector sort of character would be quite nice.

Alright, I'll play some sort of DPS-focused character, so I can benefit from your cover. I'm not sure what, yet (Would a size-scaled melee-strike focused rogue work better than a normal fighter of some kind?), but I'll look into it.

The impression I've got so far is that for melee bigger is better, but I don't know as much rulebook-fu as you all.

Eh, looking at the rogue stats, I think I'll stick with my charger build. It'll require some room to be effective, but I can deal an average of about 73 damage on an attack.

Yes and no.  For certain particular melee tricks (Trip, Grapple), size is king.  Size also directly affects things like Strength, which cranks directly into melee damage under most circumstances.  Size also affects reach, which translates into how far away you can touch someone with a melee attack.  However, on the other hand, there are feats that let you change that over from Strength to Dexterity (Weapons Finesse), though, which most wee folk get bonuses with, and there are some vicious feats and tricks that wee folk can use.  For instance, the Confound that I was discussing?  Because I decided to do a Small Strength build going in, I'm using it mostly for protection, but an alternate DEX build would use that free flat-footed trick to stack on special damage multipliers that only work on flatfooted enemies (for instance, the "Killer Gnome" build).  Honestly, if we were doing a slightly higher-level build and didn't already have a charger (and if I wasn't already set on a Great Shield build), I would probably try to build a Petal (for those who, like me, do not have all four Monster Manuals memorized, think Tinkerbell) Finesse killer, since I stumbled across the idea while scanning for alternate builds around Confound. ^_^

i'm thinking about maybe doing a tank/supporter build-- pally perhaps

never played a paladin, but i've always done best playing either a tank or a support char-- it'd be interesting to see how a combo would fair

that low skill points thing is kind of iffy tho

I'll be playing, starting out as some kind of druid at least.

On that note, will unearthed arcana be allowed, as I've found the 'druidic avenger' variant in there, which grants rages, and would free up some levels to lay with.

Ah. Will you be going for a higher spellcasting paladin, then?

I'll be playing a paladin, but primarily using it for the mount, although it will depend on stat rolls.
