Night of the First Day

The night winds down and Carl let's the droids deactivate.  He wanders around the perimeter of the clearing, gathering branches of various sizes to create shelter for the camp.  After he's created a decent sized pile of them, he starts wrapping leaves and vines around them.  He has a bit of difficulty with this, but Ms Tasilvinadr comes to his aid, tying the plants while Carl holds them aloft.  During this time, Harvey has been pacing back and forth, eyes watching for any sign of more creatures like those they had recently killed.  He steps over the strange corpses as well as the corpse of whoever it was that had been in the droppod.

After Carl has finished his shelter preparations, he sits down to eat a ration bar, tenderly rubbing his calves and thighs, trying to urge the strain out of them.  Ms Martin notices his discomfort and approaches, telling him to remove his armour and lay down on some leaves.  She expertly massages his muscles, evoking groans of satisfaction from Carl, and before long he is fit as could be, although truly ready to sleep now.  She aids him in adorning his armor, before he finishes what's left over from his ration bar.  He then approaches the makeshift tent and lays down.  For Ms Martin, however, she has turned her eyes to the fire.  Throughout the course of the fight, it has burned, but now its size has diminished; Ms Martin fetches more fallen branches, both to add to the fire immediately and over the course of the night.

Ms Martin decides that there's enough wood for the night, so she also partakes of a ration bar, before joining Carl in the hovel.  Ms Tasilvinadr looks to Harvey and sees that he is currently watching over the camp.  She walks over to him and tells him to wake her when he begins to tire, and she will continue the watch.  Shen then settles down to eat and sleep.

After 5 hours of keeping watch, as the daylight fades to nothingness and there's nothing but the flickering light of the fire to keep him company, Harvey's energy fades.  He partook of a ration bar over the course of his watch, but now he needs to sleep.  Waking Ms Tasilvinadr, he takes her spot under the canopy as she takes his by the fire.

Just an hour into her watch, however, she notices the sound of cracking.  At first she just assumes it's the fire crackling, but there's too much rhythm to this.  She scans the dark treeline, searching for movement, before finding a set of compound eyes staring back at her, shimmering from the fire light.  She let's out a cry to her sleeping comrades, as the creature bounds out of the jungle.  As it approaches, she levels her gun and fires.  Her first shot strikes its leg, but misses the second from the creature tripping onto the ground.  It quickly rights itself, and charges Serina headfirst.  Another set of eyes stare out of the jungle, ready to attack.

Carl and Ms Martin each get a partial action due to waking immediately from Ms Tasilvinadr's exclamation.  Harvey doesn't wake.  (A partial action means that Ms Martin can get up and fire as if she were running; Carl can get up and cover someone, but cannot attack the creatures currently (someone needs to give him a battery for his weapon!).  If they take these actions, they will attack at an additional -2 the next combat turn.)

Carl quickly gets up and approaches the creature, hoping to draw its attention and block its way to Selina or the others.

In The Middle Of The Night

Springing out of bed, Ms. Martin aims her gun with surprising ease, squaring the sights directly onto the charging beast.  With two quick trigger pulls, she sears it straight through the torso, slaying it midstride.  At the same time, Carl hops out of bed and charges into the clearing, spotting the remaining creature and intercepting it as it charges out of the bush.  The creature collides hard with Carl, bashing into his armour for 7 damage and collapsing on the ground.

The sound of the hopping insects is audible again, but at a fraction of the intensity heard during the fight last night.  Carl can hear that there are tiny "popping" noises periodically interrupting the buzz.

Harvey begins to stir.
Ms. Talvinadr acts next.

One Thing After Another

Ms. Tasilvinadr shifts her rifle to the other creature creeping out of the jungle and fires two shots.  Both shots pierce the torso of the creature and it collapses from the shock of the two blows.  It remains, motionless, in a heap on the ground.  It is silent.

But not for long.  The background buzz increases in intensity.  Everyone hears a very quiet thumping, pounding noise.  Everyones' heartbeats unconsciously syncronize with the noise, and noone can relax.

Harvey wakes up and climbs out of the shelter, to see the rest of the party with the guns ready.

(It is unlikely there'll be any more encounters for the night.)

Current Armour Values
Harvey: 10    Selina: 4!    Carl: 8    Serina: 11

Carl sighs.

"Well, on the bright side, I have a hunch that there won't be much else for the night. Let's get back to sleep."

Selina groans wen she looks at her armor.

"Okay, new plan. Lets not let the medic get hurt anymore please? This is getting a bit ridiculous..." Selina sighs and takes her armor off, revealing her normal Civilian clothes underneath. She would have to hope nothing more attacked them. She then tries to go back to sleep after all the early stress.

Carl pats Selina on the back.

"Yeah. We need to work on stuff. A lot. But for now, we need rest."
