Aww. I thought you did pretty well though, maskwolf. :l
Alrighty, so now the turn goes to KingBacon. 4 days to confirm.

<3

EDIT: I also really appreciate you guys practically running yourselves on this thread. I've been unexpectedly busy (and distracted...mostly distracted, actually) lately and I've been having a hard time keeping up with what was going on but you guys are doing really great.
So thanks for taking care of this thread for me while I was gone. I should be more active now. Maybe.

They crawled up the magma vent didn't they mask? Sheesh. High magma tables usually imply hollow tubes very high up (unless you are lucky, then you get like 20k worth of candy and magma near the surface.) I vote to build a new fort in the same region as the old one, using the save with the destroyed fort. Though I can work with the previous save.

No, actually. I just hadn't noticed them on the list amongst the other 100 or so demons.

I don't mind having a new fort made, especially since this one was pretty much doomed right when you found the tent.

In that case, look for something like this:

Good news, I found a site nestled between two mountains with a nice flat area in between for a kill zone.

Bad news, it's got zombies.

Because obviously the historical Spartans lived right inside of a reanimating biome.
By the way, Bacon, I think I know the place you're talking about. Is it within that little desert inside an opening within the mountains sealed off by lakes and a huge river? If so, then that place is going to be absurdly difficult to settle (notice the Terrifying surroundings) and you'll get NO trade. At all.

Aww. :(
Okay then, will do.

So, BlackMuffin, found a spot yet?  Or, perhaps a few spots to choose from?

Well I have to say. My spot has goblins, kobs, and zombies. File: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=8173

The tenure of commander K.Bacon saw the foundation Irnabidavus, New Salt Mine, in a small pass between The Joyous Fingers and the dead lands to the south.
His governance also established two militias, ordered the construction of deep forges to smelt arms, and a grand slaughter of turkeys for leather, tallow, and bone.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Walls of schist have been raised to divide the lands and the foundation of a schist gatehouse has begun.

Even with his success, K.Bacon's rein was not without disaster or challenge.

Undead attacks were a constant threat to the new fort, but with hammer and shield the men sallied forth from the small cave they had carved and drove back the onslaught.

The first caravan from the mountainhome turned back after one wagon had got stuck in the mountains, fleeing undead rabbits doubt.

A miner was dispatched and in an attempt to free the wagon she was crushed. I believe Sigun was her name.

Goblins also raided the fort during this first year. They were driven off with ease at first, but then, from behind a boulder, a thief came running out. K.Bacon charged at the green slag and lost his leg to the swing of a rusty iron dagger.

-Scribbled report from unknown author.

I don't like the way BlackMuffin has been cut out of the decision-making process on his own thread.

I'm out.

I actually like how people here are taking charge of themselves, I've been too busy to monitor this thread 24/7 anyways.

So it's axes and hammers only? No spears and swords allowed?
