Monies!

I wonder if he'll get annoyed if we keep choosing the same option and cancelling at the last second.

Monies first, to see if he does get annoyed. For science!

Then go for the bluff. We have Presence... Right?

Where is the break-dance/rap battle option?

I believe they're going to add that in the next update.

We have literally zero presence - we couldn't bluff our way out of a wet paper bag.

Looks like it's either war or a major diplomatic incident, because we sure as hell aren't giving up that province!

This is why Presence is so awesome.

In a hole in the ground there lived a dwarf. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a dwarf fortress, and that means magma.

We could always try going the other direction. I've never tried it personally (so don't think this is OOC knowledge or anything), but I wouldn't be surprised if we could win their country as an ally or something by giving it up without a big hassle. It certainly seems like something they would throw into the game based on what we've seen so far.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

It depends.  Would we rather face a potential Ixian invasion by contesting the province, or a certain assassin from the Duke of Maree or his sister if we surrender it?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
