Reclaimers - A Sci-Fi Dungeon Crawling RTD
« on: November 11, 2013, 02:57:10 pm »

Welcome to Reclaimers! After deciding that Pikes, Peasants & Pillocks was a little too far out of my scope considering my circumstances, I've opted for an RTD that's lighter on art and heavier on writing, which is something I'm altogether better at. There will still be some eye-candy to give players a visual idea of their surroundings and the like, however.

You could count this as a reserve, I guess.

Forum Name:Dwarman
Character Name: Anjum Tolt'taar
Species: Nomad/Quasi humanoid species that lives entirely in the depths of space-forced to wear protective suits when mingling with non-Nomad species due to poor immune systems, and generally are at a disadvantage in anything aside from low or zero gravity. Very well adapted to reclamation work and the rigors of space-they are capable in most realms of technology and science, but poor fighters-preferring to avoid or out-think an opponent then face them head on.
Gender: Male (Undecided)-Nomads are capable of psychologically becoming either gender at some point in their lives, usually around 20 years, at which point they become much like any other humanoid. Anjum prefer 'he', though he has not made any decisions yet.
Specialization: Mercenary
Equipment: Unarmoured spacesuit, a vacuum-sealed storage backpack, a spare tank of oxygen, a mono-knife.
Scanbot (A baseball sized, independent drone with a personality.), Nomad Multitool (Pocket sized future swiss-army knife), Scanscreen (Data display device-can be used in conjuction with scanbot-many other functions possible.)
Appearance: Anjum's roughly humanoid body is large and skinny-over seven feet-with large, three fingered hands. His appearance and face is sealed behind a suit, however-a sealed suit-vest and pants sort of combination, made of a composite of light ceramic scrap, cobbled from the designs of many different species. It looks patchwork but is surprisingly durable and dependable. Where his face would be, is a darkened faceplate-only rudimentary human features can be seen through the blue-tinted glass.
Bio:
Anjum was until recently something of a Noble among Nomad-kind, insofar as the Nomads can be said to have a privileged class by right of genetic superiority-Anjum is considered at least 89% viable for producing healthy children, and in a species with nearly a crippling lack of population growth, that makes him quite unique. Unfortunately, he's also a bit of a screw up. Falling asleep on a route scan-job (after a night of partying) caused the near loss of an entire destroyers worth of Nomads to a spatial anomaly-only the slimmest of margins kept it from becoming a total disaster.

Anyone else would have been banished for life from the fleet, or maybe even put to death. Anjum, due to his particular nature, was given a reprieve-five standard years away from the fleet to 'meditate' on his foolish actions. Until that time is passed, he cannot return. So he finds himself looking for work, lamenting his loss...and hoping he can survive until they let him back home.

I'm not sure what a lifeline is, but the other two things certainly aren't backpack-sized when you put them together. Perhaps a pistol would be a wiser choice?

Hmmm. Reserve me a spot, maybe? Seems rather interesting.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Would the welding helmet be an okay extra object? I doubt it'd fit into a backpack especially well, but he'd probably be wearing it more often than not.

By the way, I use characters based on the scenario. Since this seems to fit Scion, I've introduced Scion to the forums.

All applicants thus far (barring Urist, who still has yet to fix some highlighted issues) have been accepted. If we have a full crop of six by tomorrow, we can begin.

I'll take a stab at it.

Forum Name:Ozarck

Character Name: Oz Arcanus

Species:Human

Gender: Male

Specialisation:Technician

Equipment: unarmoured spacesuit, a vacuum-sealed storage backpack, a spare tank of oxygen and a mono-knife - a knife with a molecular-thin blade. Rations for a week, Backpack Monkey (a brick-sized quadrupedal robot used for retrieval / scouting small places. It has a rudimentary AI persona.), and a spare set of clothing, especially underwear (clean).

Appearance:Somewhat short and wiry, with ropey muscles and numerous small scars. Piercing blue eyes. Tends to always be in motion, except when concentrating, when he is able to go for hours without motion. Wears rather casual clothing, sometimes sewn together out of other clothing.

Bio: Oz doesn't talk much about life before. There are times when he gets uncomfortably silent, when the conversation moves to personal matters, or when someone is talking about their children. There is a rumor that Oz owes some ruthless people a large amount of money. Oz denies this rumor.

I'm not sure what a lifeline is...
I'm guessing it's a line that connects him to spacecraft, space stations, and other space stuff, possibly including basic life-support so he isn't limited to his suit's air supply and such.

All player slots are now considered filled - at least, they will be once GWG finishes his sheet. We should be good to start later today!

Forum Name: Why is this needed?
Character Name: Ja'Jan Au'Aulun ("Jonny" to those who can't pronounce it :P)
Species: Concentrus Mammarius (Will PM details when in. Or ask Ozarck XD)
Gender: Male
Specialisation: Mercenary
Equipment: Wallet with family photos (there are a lot), A "Gentlemens Magazine" (a Playboy basically, but alien), and a Blaster Rifle.
Appearance: Four Arms, Six legs, Covered in hair. Plenty of muscle, though looks leaner then most humans.
Bio: Ja'Jan volunteered in the Concentrus Navy when his race was attacked in one of the wars that came to plague his people after they had become integrated into the galactic community. He can't remember which one, as there were so many. Alien species have SOOO many "taboos" that peace with them just becomes untenable. Silly barbarians. Oh well, it gave Ja'Jan the skills he needed to truly excel once he left the service.
Unfortunately this coincided with his family being massacred. Oops. Now he wants revenge on....someone. But before that detour, LOOTING TIME!

Question: How many speed reloadees am I allowed to take, since they are basically a mini item? Also, how large of a box of fruit loops can I take, in terms of like oz. or something?
