So, what is everyone's general avaliability times? I am thinking we can go to war early next week, say monday or tuesday. What would the best time be for you all to be online and actively taking things out?

On weekdays I'm available from noon onwards. But as long as I know the approximate time things are going to go down before they go down, I can probably make it regardless of time. Not that my shitty Sloop IV will be of much help, maybe I can take a shot for someone. Might as well weld my vessel onto your outer hull like scrap metal.

Yeah, it's not real apparent (since the game kinda pushes you to upgrade ASAP) but I stuck in my Sloop MK I until I could just jump into a Frigate. You save a ton of $$$ by skipping ship classes instead of losing 25% of the value by getting every incremental upgrade.

It kinda reminds me of a mix between an old BBS door game and an MMO.

You have a few different types of "meters" that control how many actions you can do but they refill pretty quickly. There's premium that you can pay for to make the meters refill faster.

Combat is auto-fought so you're just clicking to initiate. Missions are done by clicking and you just get a text description of what happened during that "step" of the mission. The real strategy part of the game it seems is in actual fighting of the war and equipping your ship -- most of the other things seem like a mix between "idle" mini-games and just plain grinding.

One thing I like about this game is that each of those meters does multiple different things. Most other games the meter does one thing and that one thing only and you have no balances or choices to make.

In Star Pirates you have to weigh, do you save your energy for research or attack, or use it on a commission? Do you hit the belts with your fuel, try and rescue pirates lost in space, or search for someone with cash out to raid?

I think these choices are what makes the game special. Plus the great community.
