Star Pirates - The only good webgame out there
« on: November 10, 2013, 11:32:27 pm »

Star pirates is, of all the browser games I have played (which is a lot), the only one I actually return to. I have been playing it for four years in fact. I was originally brought into the game by a group on this forum. Sadly that fleet fell apart after a while, but recently I have gotten back into the game and want to play with a group of friends again. :)

So, about last month I made a fleet based out of Shamus Young's Twenty Sided forum community, but only a handful of people joined. Not enough to hit the threshold where we can take place in the awesomely fun fleet wars.

So, will you join me and rule the galaxy as fellow pirates?

I sure hope so.  ;)

It helps the fleet (by helping me fund the darn thing, it isn't free) if you join through this link:

Here is my profile:

Here is our fleet, [D20], send me a message here or there and I will shoot you and invite.

I stocked the armory with a host of midrange weapons. We also got a generous donation from another pirate of some rarer equipment. Should help you guys get up and going fast.

I used to play this several years ago. I do check in on it from time to time, but haven't really been able to get back into it. If I recall I was in my high 30's and with weapons/shields 16~18k and 3.5k engines. Character name was Dlynn, so feel free to farm me if you like, as I barely play anymore. Just spy first not totally sure on the stats, and there could have been changes to the items in the time I was absent from the game. Have fun.

Though maybe, I'll log in later to toss a few hellos out to some of my old friends provided they are still around on it.

Edit: Well maybe I won't be logging in. Apparently my char account was retired due to inactivity. *Shrugs* Oh well.

Logged in last night. Seemed like a pretty cool game. Played for a few hours and left you a PM Volatar.

Logged in this morning and now I'm greeted with page that just says this in large font:

I tracked down a "Contact" form on the developers site and used that to submit a inquiry. I guess "BallC" was too much for one of their overzealous admins...   ::)

What does the game actually play like? From the very little I saw, it seems like it's the kind of thing where if you login every hour you're stronger than someone who doesn't.

Not really. You really play at your own pace. Higher tiered people are in their own areas so you don't have the problem of some guy in a giant battleship sitting outside newb station picking everyone off.

Yeah, that sounds about close to where my base stats were. I think I did leave my equipment on hence the much higher modded stats. Unless I forgot and left my labcoat on when I left.

Yes, the game is basically log on every hour and get stronger, and of course if you buy premium services the rate you get stronger is even faster. The top players like most other f2p browser games, have sunk thousands of dollars into the game.

And that does sound odd Ballc, I vaguely remember them at least giving you a chance to change your name if it was found to be problematic.

The game model is designed around quick rewards and constant play.  It regenerates fuel/energy/etc every 5 minutes, and allows debris harvesting every hour (all according to server time, so timers are global).  If you sit at the computer all day, you progress WAY more rapidly than anyone else.

As far as games go, this is more in line with an MMORPG - the more hours you spend playing the more powerful you are - as compared to practically any other browser game - login daily to keep pace.

Figured I'd check it out. Who know how long it will actually hold my interest, but I've got in to the fleet and made it to level 10 in the space of a couple hours.

I am inviting people as fast as they come in. Make sure to take a look in the armory for some items to help you out.

I used to play Star Pirates, several years ago, after Warped Board and Galaxiana left I just couldn't play anymore, I don't think I could come back either, I miss the old community too much.

Yup, just confirmed with a CSR (after jumping through a bunch of hoops since you can't post on the forum until you're level 4 and that's the only way to open a ticket) that it was banned because it "sounds like ballsy which is a vulgar term". /smh

And they basically just told me to piss off and start a new account. Yeah, great welcome...

(BTW, new account name in-game is Cabot which if you say it backwards almost sounds like tobacco! :P )
