We've got Leo in, GWG in (Mostly), Mastahcheese's incomplete sheet, and Nerjin's invisible sheet. So if I start right now you have three people.

I made it visible a long while ago actually. Should be visible now.

He also seeks to become smarter than "Boxorox". He's not smart. He just does diety.

As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

OK, Chaotic Irresponsible, and I'll take Heal Light Wounds, Sanctuary, Entangle, and Faerie Fire for my divine spells (I have soooo many divine spells) and Burning Hands for my Arcane spell.

EDIT: Oh, and Nerjin, your character list on the first page shows my old stats, I have new ones because Jackson is 125 years old.

Make sure you can cast spells in the Plant sphere (Entangle) and I believe Faerie Fire is Weather or something. If you read the Cleric class, early on it says what spheres you get. If a spell has multiple spheres, you can cast it as long as you can cast at least one of those spheres.

Spheres come in Minor and Major flavors: with a Minor in Plant for example you could cast Plant spells up to ... I believe 4th level spells? It might be 3rd level spells max, I don't remember now. With a Major you can eventually cast any of the spells in that sphere.

The very back of the book has a spell index by Wizard spell school and Priest spell spheres. You might wanna make a list of the 1st level ones you can cast instead of using the Priest spell list in the middle of the book.

It's 2E's way of avoiding having a different spell list for Clerics, Druids, and all the different specialty priests. It's just like spell school for Wizards, except the Cleric isn't a generalist who has access to everything.

Ok, I found the sphere thing in the book.

So how many spheres do I choose? How does it work?
I didn't see any mention of it earlier.

You don't choose; Clerics get access to certain spheres and Druids get access to others. The list of spheres you get is in the description of the Cleric class in the class chapter.

It seems like a huge PITA but they did it to pave the way for multitudes of specialty priests; each god's priests have their own special abilities and spell spheres. It's briefly glossed over in the Players' Handbook but it really comes to fruition in the Faiths and Avatars book.

But it's not like their selection of spells is better, just different. There isn't a priest who can cast everything, AFAIK. And choosing a specialty priest involves a lot of reading and figuring out what you wanna do.

Cleric is a good choice but I believe you don't have access to Plant, Animal and Weather spells. But for example, because Locate Animals and Plants is a [Detection] and [Animal] and [Plant], and you can do [Detection], you can cast it. All you need is to qualify for at least one of the spheres listed under the spell. (I might have the specific spheres on that wrong, I'm going from memory here on a spell I think I've used once ever)

DM might just say forget the sphere thing and cast anything on the priest list. I've seen DMs do that. But it sounds like he's going kinda by the book mostly. Remember you don't need to worry about anything except 1st level spells right now, so if you make a list of the ones you can cast it shouldn't take too long!
