Magical Spambot Girls
Magic, Robots, Girls, and Amazing Products!
What is Magical Spambot Girls?Magical Spambot Girls is a game about the titular girls braving the dangers of the internet to bring people the word about affordable items they don't need. If you want a game with a deep and thought provoking plot, you've come to the wrong place. If you want to see 6 to 13 year olds blow up robots to post information about cheap kitchens in the UK, welcome aboard.
How many players are you taking?I'm aiming for a minimum of four players. If, somehow, I manage to get flooded with a swarm of applications, I'll probably take a maximum of eight or ten, mostly first come, first served unless some later applicants have some good skills/ideas that the party would really need.
Where the hell did you come up this idea? Why, from this fancy post of course!
Magical Spambot Girls a dungeon crawler with light puzzle elements. Before the crawling begins, the players will have the chance to buy items and equipment, as well as distribute skill points they earned from the last crawl.
After everyone is ready, the players will enter the internet with its many servers. Replace internet with dungeon, and server with room to know what to expect. The goal of crawling through the internet is to find a Website to sell things from. After spending a certain number of turns in the Website, the Magical Spambot Girls will leave the Website. Afterwards they'll have the opportunity to prepare for another foray into the depths of the internet.
Note: After completing a Sales, every Magical Spambot Girl gets skill points. I'll also be rewarding communication/cooperation/general awesomeness with skill points, just because I can.
Surprisingly enough the Internet is filled with things that take offence to your Magical Spambot Girls. Things with massive rockets, cannons, blades, and giant teeth. Combat is very simple. Each weapon has a relevant skill associated with it. When an attack is made, a d20 is rolled with the weapon's accuracy, your relevant skills and modifiers are added to the roll, while the target's Evasion is subtracted. If the result is over 10, then the attack hits and damage is dealt. Damage is equal to the weapon's damage plus your skill with the weapon type minus the target's Sturdiness. Easy as pie!
Note: Changing your armour takes one turn. Changing your weapon is instant. So if you have an ability that allows you to make multiple attacks, feel free to switch weapons to maximize killiness.
When a Magical Spambot Girl's HP is reduced to zero, they are only knocked unconscious. If the battle end without them being revived, then they'll automatically revive with 1 HP.
Actions:
Unless you've been buffed by one of the many different spells, you only get one action per turn.
Things that count as actions:
Attacking.
Casting spells.
Changing armour or accessories.
Using Sales skills.
Exploring a new server.
Things that do not count as actions:
Changing weapons.
Drinking potions.
Talking (duh).
Moving between already explored servers.
Upon finding a Website on the Internet, the Magical Spambot Girls can start to sell people their fabulous products.
Note: You'll be told when a server hosts a website. Take the time to prepare before entering it by changing your equipment or cast some buffs. Every turn counts when Sales begin!
Sales works a bit like a festival shooting game. Customers will randomly appear on the Website and have a timer that dictates when they leave. Each Customer also has a Willpower value. Using Sales skills on a Customer will reduce their Willpower, modified by the different traits of the customers. If you reduce their Willpower to zero, they cave in and buy your wonderful products. If they leave before then, you get nadda. Customers with high Willpower and/or short timers award more money than ones that easily cave in or stick around for a long time. After a certain number of turns pass, Sales end and all Magical Spambot Girls earn the same amount of money based on their success.
Note: Attacking Customers will have no effect, but status effects affect them normally if possible. Stopping or slowing Customers before their timers run out is an excellent idea!
Freeze: A program has encountered an unexpected problem, and can't act for X turns unless cured.
Overheat: Exceeding temperature tolerances deals 1/8th HP damage per turn for X turns unless cured.
Memory Leak: Improper programming deals 1/8th MP damage each turn for X turns unless cured.
Lag: Poor connection speeds mean that you only act every other turn for X turns. Additionally spells that give extra actions/attacks are only half as effective on a character with this status effect.
Overclocked: Overclocking the CPU awards this character three actions per turn for X turns. The effects of Overheat and Memory Leak are doubled when Overclocked.
Other status effects exist, and will be explained before you encounter them.
Enemies and Customers all have traits that affect the amount of damage they receive. For example the Squishy trait causes enemies to take 2.0x damage from Oversized Weapon attacks, while the Musical trait makes the Musical Ability skill twice as effective against that customer. Traits are culminative. So two 2.0x modifiers is equal to 4.0x.
