Your training - it started at the time of the event that got you locked in here.
But before you were a Guardian, you were something else….. what was it again?
>A) I was a member of the Clockworks, a master of all things mechanical. The complexities of magic and electricity were not for me.
>B) I was a member of the Mages, a wielder of powerful magics and ancient secrets. What need has I of devices when my very soul held such power?
>C) I was a member of the Alchemists, controller of nature. I had the power of lightning and powder at my fingertips, so why should I need metal or spirit as any medium?
>D) I was a Tinkerer. The guilds are fools, seeking mastery of only one path, when the three untied grant such power.
>E) I was a Guard, defender of the peace. It mattered not to me what made my weapons, but only how well they worked.
>F) I was a Thief, master of the shadows. I lived for gain, regardless of the means of it’s acquirement.
Your personality had always been remarked upon in your role too. How was it they described you again?
>A) I stand up for what I believe is right, irrespective of what others tell me. My morals are unchanging, and I know that if all were to follow in my footsteps, the world would be a better place. I am the light in the darkness.
>B) I am swift and volatile as the storm, but many tell me that I change too much. It is not my strength that is impressive, but my speed and finesse.
>C) I am calm and slow to stir, but almost unstoppable once so. I win my fights by eroding my enemies reserves, whilst I myself never tire due to my determination.
>D) I am the opposition, the rebel. I take the rule of no man, and wish only to free others to choose their own paths. those that claim to be the just are often the least so.
>E) I am steadfast and honourable. My word is my vow, and I will never abandon a friend. I am almost impossible to change, keeping to my path steadily without veering.
>F) I am active and upfront, wearing my heart on my sleeve. I rush obstacles with passion, tearing them down with all my energy in a single swoop.
Then came the event. You were broken, shattered, and your soul stained. You shudder to recall it, but recall it you must. ((Cannot be the same as the previous option))
>A) An angel came to me in a dream. It fettered my mind to it’s will, and cut from my mind even the slightest darkness. It tried to make me nothing more than a shell, but i fought back. Peace was not worth my self. I broke free, but in doing so was broken myself.
>B) In the street, the lights flittered down from their lamps and danced around me. They surrounded me, but they saw that I could not match their pace. They sped off into the night, and try as I might, I could not catch them. Such sorrow filled me that I could not hope to recover.
>C) Voices whispered to me from the river. They spoke of knowledge and secrets from before the dawn of time, and I dove in to seek them. But the deeper I swam the further the sounds sank, until they faded compety and I surrendered to my buoyancy. I could think of nothing else but the task I had failed.
>D) I woke at midnight to find a demon on my chest, a knife in my heart. It lifted from it the chains of my kindness, and I saw the world through clear eyes. At last I was free, but some corner of me rebelled. The sensation persists in my memory like a persistent itch, but my soul could not fully handle complete freedom.
>E) Trial after trial faced me, an evening of such suffering as I have never again endured. From all sides watched stony faces, watching my pain with indifference. As I neared the finish, I collapsed from the agony, and cried out for mercy. I awoke with the scars still fresh inside my head, a burden of my own to bear.
>F) In my path lay a great wall of burning wood, surrounded by cackling laughter. With every blow the wall sealed itself, repairing all the damage I had just inflicted. Try as I might, I could not breach it, and eventually I was forced to retreat. the mocking rings in my ears even now.
Only the Master made you whole again after, here in the Asylum. he taught you of the planes, of the horrors they contain. And he taught you how to defend against them. Your strength, your agility, was nothing against such foes. They would all defeat you. But you had magic, you had technology. And you had your mind.
This is to be a RPG, with ? players, inspired partly by the upcoming game The Order, and partly by my completely lost motivation with NaNo.
The world is a steampunk era, but run through with magic, and under constant threat from things not of our dimension.
