But damage is calculated separately per bullet. Imagine for a moment you are up a against an enemy who can consistently roll 4 armour.
Dwarmin could still potentially deal 2 damage against that enemy.
Giglamesh? A grand total of 0.

An SMG is better against many unarmoured enemies.
A pistol will fare better against enemies with medium amounts of armour.

Gigla.
Das ist nicht Gilga.

I also have +2AP movement thing, so I'll always have at least two move.

Zephyr's blessing (II) it's not +2 damage, it's +2 minimum. So instead of 0-4 it'll do 2-4. If it penetrates armour - which it will penetrate medium armour 11/12 times, light armour always, and heavy 50%+ - it does +2 damage through shredder rounds.

So against an unarmoured target I do 40-60 damage with a full 10 round burst.

With +4AP from various upgrades I can reload and fire 9 times per turn and move two squares.

If they have four armour and my bullet does 4 damage it's penetrated the armour, hasn't it? So shredder damage applies.

I'm not arguing for gigla-nerfs (everyone favorite snackfood), but wondering if I should just pick up an SMG too.

But if you wanted to nerf him or buff me you could give the pistol armor piercing or the SMG a penalty against piercing armor.

Maybe give the pistol a special ability? Six-shot or something, to fire off all shots in a single action? Make it dual wield-able without penalty to accuracy and the same AP to shoot both instead of one - but double AP to reload?

((Sheets are up! Feel free to name gear, it make life easier :P
Any re balancing that will occur will occur after the first mission.... Speaking of which.))

’Ya all good? Now, about combining. The better the gear you put in, the better the gear you get out, ya’d think. Really, it’s more about how much damage you’re prepared to do to yar gear. Better quality gear means it can take more damage before packing in. But maybe that demo’ll help.’
The dwarf places on the forge two items, a blade (lvl 6), and a lightning bomb (lvl 3). ’Now you see, the higher quality I try to make, the harder it gets.’
(Attempt to make a lvl 3 item:
Success rate= ((6+3)-3)*5=30% *3 base bonus = 90%
Single failure rate (one item lost)= (100-90)*(⅘) = 8%
Double failure rate (both items lost)= (100-90*(⅕) = 2%

Attempt to make a lvl 7 item:
Success rate= ((6+3)-7)*5=10% *3 base bonus = 30%
Single failure rate= (100-30)*(⅘) = 56%
Double failure rate= (100-30)*(⅕) = 14%)

’Now this blade here will stab and shock them. Anyone want a go? I wouldn’t advise it, but if you really wanna...’ He shrugs.

’In that case, I’ll see ya all later, with any luck.’ He pauses. ’And assuming yar tags work, too.’
‘Hopefully we won’t have to worry about that,’ replies the Master, leading you back out of the room. You retrace your steps through the asylum to the elevator, but instead of stopping at the cells you continue upwards. The climb ends with a jerk, making all but the Master stumble, and the doors slide open with a rattle to reveal that you are in open air. It feels good having spent almost the last year of your life locked up inside.
The sky glows red before you, and turning around the opening to the lift is sillhouetted against a backdrop of flames. The drone of the aircabs is far distant now, and no more rise from the city. A single, larger vehicle drifts over the flames, a large bucket suspended beneath it. As you watch, it tips, sending a cloud of steam rising from the seemingly unaffected inferno below.
A cough from the Master draws your attention back, and you see that he has pulled four dog tags from one of his pockets. He hands one to each of you, and you can see that there are no names on them, only the symbol of The Order.
‘These are your tags. Think of them as holding your souls. If you die, the tag will be used up, and your soul will be returned here for reconstitution. If you are wearing them, of course. It is entirely optional.’ He grins at you, revealing pearly white teeth, as an aircab approaches. It hovers overhead for a moment, before descending onto a clearly marked circle. The glow of the crystal floating above it fades until it barely perceptible.
‘Your mission is to find, and close, the portal. The easiest way to do so will be to kill whatever is holding it open. Are there any questions before you leave?’

"Why wouldn't we wanna wear 'em, boss? What's the downside to them?"

That said, Crowestone took the tag and held it in his hand.

"Do they have a failure rate, then, boss? The dwarf daemon said "If they work"."
Nonetheless, he slipped the tags around his neck. A chance against death was better than nothing.
