With the hunters dead, an era of peace descended upon the inhabitants of the small town...
...naw, just kidding. Now there are packs of shadowbeasts and colonies of vampires all over the damned place, and people are still dying because everyone is an idiot.
Including me, apparently, because having an outpost as a palace won't even let you build temples to Lunord/Helia. It'll let you build
all the other temples just fine, but not those two. Racists.
To help actually meet some of peoples requests, and to have a method of flushing our worrying surplus of gold on something, I have constructed an embassy.
This is an embassy. It can serve as housing to two "homeless" heroes, and it can also be "opened" in order to passively spend money on trying to find experienced heroes to fill up your guilds. An embassy will only stop doing this once you tell it to close again, or until all your guilds, embassies and outposts are full.
Heroes from an embassy are
generally higher than level 1 when they come into your kingdom, and this is reflected in a greater cost when hiring them. It also takes longer to call a hero through this method than to just recruit one at a guild yourself.
Anyways, requests are now properly open for
any hero type, from gnomes to dwarves to paladins to barbarians. Everyone's welcome, and I'll nab the first proper one to come through for you. Otherwise, I'm just going to be immediately booting all unclaimed heroes that come through here, which is going to cost me a few metric fucktons of gold but I'll do it anyways because yeah. I'm just that awesome.
Also we don't have quite as bad a problem with rampant death and hunters as we used to.
Part of that problem has been alleviated thanks to this newly-constructed building:
This is the sorcerer's abode, and serves no other purpose than to give me, the sovereign, some nifty spells to toss at the world. You can only build one such tower, but it will provide you with a number of special abilities that have varied uses. These differ from normal spells cast from a wizard's tower or a temple by having a cooldown period based on the spell, wherein the sorcerer must rest and recuperate before casting another spell. And, also, by having the spells be hilariously expensive.
But, right off the bat, it provides me with one life-saver of a spell, "Change of Heart". When cast on a hero, it immediately stops them from what they were doing and makes them do the opposite instead. This really only works to change them from "running away" to "berserking" and vice versa. This means that I can get that wimpy but powerful warrior to turn around and stand up for himself, letting him get some gold and experience out of the deal, or I can tell 2nd Fiddle for the umpteenth time that "No, planting yourself in the middle of a vampire gangbang so they can all leech the life out of you while you die pitifully is
NOT a good battle strategy".
At higher levels the abode offers some very powerful and potentially game-changing spells, but for now we're quite content just to have what's offered here.
Anyways, if there's an unsupported hero type you'd like to request, now would be the time to do it (as there's now actually somewhat of a chance that they'll show up).
