(No offense intended to Ghana, but seriously, your continent got the short end of the historical stick.)
This is way before the colonial era though. North/Western Africa was quite a bit ahead of Europe for the most part.
What's the timescale of this game? My answer is dependent on that.

Yes, we start in 850. When do we end?

Yes, we start in 850. When do we end?
Given the average lifespan of the time, our starting position, and Bay12... Soon after.

Whenever we decide to stop, I expect.
We are one person with a limited lifespan, after all.

It's more centered on Story (think perhaps similiar to Lordship although you certainly are far away from the goodiness of being a Baron)
so our Timescale will propably end between 890 and 900 or whenever our Protagonist dies.

Anyhow:

B: 3 Votes
C: 3 Votes (+-1 GWG)
F: 2 Votes (+-1 GWG)

You Should also think of a Name for our Character. Depending on the Country it should be fitting. Remember its the Early Medieval Times so Choose Names accordingly. I'll also Update the OP concerning certain Old English, Old Norse, Old German letters which aren't in use anymore as they appear.

Unless this is a multigenerational game.

I'm just gonna roll for it...

Ah yes Ireland. More specifically the Petty Kingdom of Muaide, in the future province of Connacht. It is the Summer of the Year 850 and soon enough will be your 14th nameday. With 14 you will be recognized as a fully grown man and thus you will finally be able to leave the house of your parents. With 5 Brothers and you being the youngest you won't get any heritage to speak of anyway, even though with the help of your brothers your family has grown considerably wealthy, thus allowing each of you to learn a different trade...

What Trade did you learn?

What is your Name?

Nice I was thinking the same, but I maybe we should be a steward with knowledge and some skill as blacksmiths, but focused more on the trade and management factor.

You are Fergus Ó Headhra and you learned the Trade of Blacksmith. Years of hard work in the Smithy of Patrick have made you strong as an ox.

It is early morning when Donegall, the Old Fisherman charges screaming into your little village. You have never seen the man in such agitation. His eyes are wide with fear as he comes charging past the smithy...
