Annoyed you hail the old man.

"Och, what is it, Donegall! What's gotten inta ye?"

The Old Man Turns Around his eyes widened with mad fear.

"Dragonships boy! Three o' them! May our Lord have mercy upon us..."

Your master appears behind you and his large hands clamp down on your shoulder.
"Go home Fergus. Send your father to me and get your family."

You begin to mouth some protests but are interrupted by the loudly screaming Fisherman informing the village of the impending threat.

"Nay! They've come again?"

Dramatically run home.

You run as fast as your feet carry you, still uncomprehending on what is going on. Dragonships? You can't really imagine a ship filled with dragons much less three of them.
You find your father and your two eldest brothers tending to you cattle.

"Father! Patrick sent me. Donegall screamed something of Dragonships and the Master told me that i should send you directly to him."

Your fathers concerned face is replaced by a mask of blank terror. "Dragonships? Are ye sure boy?"

You nod gravely still uncomprehending of what is going on. Your father just drops a sack of horse fodder. "F-father what is going on?"

"Go home tell your mother to send your brothers to the smithy. Then take everything thats valuable hide with mother! Aiden, Liam get the axes from the shed. And meet me at Patrick's!"

Yay, tragic backstory!

There's like a 95% chance they're all going to be slaughtered now, so we can have a motive for revenge later.

Don't mess with the Patronymic. it is properly capitalized as Ó hEadhra, or (son) of Eadhra.

Also Aiden should probably be a variant of Étaín.

You quickly run home and meet your mother in the kitchen. "Mom, Dragonships! Tell OIsin and Niall to get to the smithy. Dad said you should hide."

Before she can ask a question you rush outside and grab the closest you can find to a spear...a pitchfork.
You run for the smithy were a whole lot of men armed with whatever they have found in the short time appeared.

You find your brothers nearby and your father, Your Master and three other peasants standing around a table inside the smiths house debating heatedly.

"Feckin shit, Fergus what do you think you are doing here?" It's Aiden your eldest brother with 20 summers he has already his own home but is still helping father every now and then on the fields.

Perhaps they are traders.

So lets try to see how wide the ships are.

Perhaps they are traders.
Yes, because the Norse often send traders in vikingar ships.

Okay, you're not entirely wrong. There will be reciprocal trade of iron for blood.

Yes, we do.
"Dragonships boy! Three o' them!"

Longships used by raiders are narrow and small in...draft, I think it is? This makes them good at going up rivers but absolutely terrible at carrying cargo. We're not so far from the coast that merchant ships would emulate that design...and if we were, it's more likely they would use big, broad ships to carry the goods to the ports and then barges or something to bring them the rest of the way inland.
