850 A.D.
It's the year 850 and in Europe the Height of the Viking Age. Plundering and Trading From the Dnjepr to The Coast of what would once become Portugal, From the Cold Reaches of Iceland down to the Imperial Splendour of Constantinople and even further South, the Vikings were known and feared all through Europe. What begun with Lindisfarne would reach the Height of it's Time with the Great Heathen Army, the Danelaw, the Settlements in Greenland and in Vinland (later known as America) and end in bloody defeat at Stamford Bridge. But we won't concern ourselves with the Historical Events of that time. Indeed our Story is not even about one of the Great Norse Heroes like Ragnar Loðbrók or Eric the Red. We concern ourselves not even with somebody of Good Breeding or particular skill with the sword. Our story begins somewhere unexpected...a) Coast of Wales, Kingdom of Gwynedd
b) Western Coast of Ireland, Petty Kingdom of Muaide ruled by the Uí Fiachrach
c) Northern Coast of Germany, In the Tribal Lands of the Obotrites
d) in the Area around Novgorod
e) The Coast of Morocco in the Umayyad Sultanate
f) The Coast of Ghana, the Pagan Predecessor of Mali
