Idle Dwarves
« on: November 08, 2013, 07:26:57 pm »

Hey everyone, my recent fortress has been going strong until my last couple waves of migrants. I've got 75 idle dwarves and absolutely nothing is getting done. My miners won't mine. My brewers won't brew. My fortress has completely halted for about 2 seasons. I've seen parties in the meeting hall, but never anything that closes down EVERYTHING. Is there something I'm overlooking?

Did you assign them to a burrow? Have an alert active which assigns them to a burrow?

one of those two or something else that you have done, such as raising a crucial bridge, locking a door, making a ramp invalid or other stuff. Most of the time people come here and say "hey my game is acting weird" it's something they did. That includes my own problems, usually.

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

Have you confirmed the seasons have changed?  or just measuring subjective time?  FPS could take a big hit with arriving migrants or over designating work load bringing fortress time to standstill.  My laptop processor is very 'limpy' on fortresses.
