@LoS: Batteries weigh next to nothing. You could/should have just stuck one cockpit on in reverse.

@Lord: You don't have to fly anywhere yet. Barely any science has been done with LoS's Noseplow Rover. Just means you'd have to drive between 30s to 5 minutes to get to new locations.

e: actually no.

here is the save and
Spoiler: craft used (click to show/hide)

fun thing is, i actually spent an hour developing a plane so i could transfer a kerbal to the rover without dumping a pod on it awkwardly (like pictured). made a plane, it works, it even gets to mach 1. dumped the pod on top anyway as successfully breaking off the important parts of a plane with parachutes is pain

tried to take it to the highlands, the jet engine exploded when it got off the runway and ran out of electricity by the shoreline so i just flipped it and hoped for the best. +12 science. huzzah.

you can probably unlock something with that now

bunny jumping with those rover legs is quite possible and probably safish for longer distances (warping on ground usually causes explosions)

I'm currently on a business trip in Moscow, and I've only got my tablet PC, but I'll see if I can do anything.

I'll be quite surprised if there's a Tablet out there that can not only handle KSP suitably, but handle this particular modpack.

Samsung ATIV SmartPC Pro. More or less a full Windows 8 ultrabook folded into a touchscreen Wacom graphics tablet. Literally the best thing you can buy for the purpose at the moment. Not most powerful or most expensive - just best. ^_^

I already ran a little test flight, but turning off shadows made landing a rather difficult affair. Gonna pack a lot more sensors for the actual flight, and with shadows this time.

Aand done. I think. Not enough tech to really do anything, though I suppose I could have done much more with ladders and soil samples.

wow that thing flies pretty well, mine tend not to land as much as to crash, even if usually it is safe as only the wings falls off.

So after a lot of failures I managed to do a bit of science.

Save is here

So many failed designs, and one meh flight

At least I brought back some science from the desert, enough to unlock the good jets.

Just gimmy a booster and I can go to the end of the universe!

Not bad the good jets are already good enough to bunny jump into space.

Also remember that heat shield can e used as impromptu decouplers with some chutes to save the precious science from impending fail!

I failed to realize just how Borked the flight mechanics/SPH still is. (And has become more pronounced with this modpack.)
I've built three separate designs, and every one of them has an invisible inconsistent yaw problem.
CoM/CoL are just fine and in line, Lift slightly behind Mass. (Eventually. More Bork from a mysterious uneven CoL despite symmetrical parts.)
I'll keep at it, but somewhere in this modpack are mods dependent on game functionality that isn't really there. (I'll bet on FAR and their over-reaching aerodynamic functions, but can't be sure.)

Just as frosting on the cake, I'll save one of the failed designs for anyone to check out and see if they too get the insanity.
At least one plane will be CoL/CoM aligned at save, and load as unaligned.

E: Finished for now. Getting a bit overly frustrated with this Yaw Kraken, so I would just as soon pass it to the next.
Latest Bork was the final straw. Really nice craft, plenty stable but still maneuverable enough to stall. Enough fuel for a slow run to the Arctic, or a fast run to the Desert. Yaw Kraken basically threw me off the runway, and my liftoff smashed my engine. Done.

My failures were at least somewhat profitable, in that I generated more science than I used to unlock Solar Panels.

Last two photos are from my final flight's recovery screen. The rest were my more manueverable, but shorter ranged, Far Goer 1 attempting an Arctic Journey.

Warped through the night to gain enough power to finish mining the ocean for science. Nice Sunny Day for you Origin.

usually problem no1 with far is surfaces bending or flapping - usually struts fixes it but until we get them better not exaggerate with wingspan or placing to much weight on surfaces

The problem with pulling to the side on the runway is a problem with landing gear physics. It's not aerodynamic yaw, it's left or right wheels acting up under load.

Except that's not the only place it'll show up, just the most extreme, and predictable.
Goes back to symmetrical setups not being treated as actually symmetrical, just mostly.
Actual would mean equal loads on the wheels, and never getting uneven lift. :-/

Still love the game, just hoping we get past this basic aeronautical stage quickly.
